Preakness thoughts...

Here are my thoughts on todays Preakness at Pimlico...

My Top Selections

#7 Lookin At Lucky...Has had nothing but bad luck his last 2 starts, but his win at Oaklawn in the Rebel 3 races back was proof enough that this horse can handle a conventional fast dirt track. Finished 6th despite a terrible trip in the Derby, but wont face the same troubles today. Unless he gets unlucky again, the horse to beat at short odds(may go off the favorite)

#3 Pleasant Prince...my super longshot play of the day!! Ran a dull 3rd his last start in Derby Trial over a muddy track and was 7th of 9 runners in Blue Grass on the polytrack. Obviously did not like the poly or the mud, so Im throwing them both out and what is left is a horse that has been improving with every race over a fast dirt track, which should be what he gets today. His 4 races this year produced improving beyers of 77,88,89 and 99. He is yet to win this year, but his last race on fast dirt was 2nd in Florida Derby by a nose to Ice Box, who we all know was the best horse in the Derby despite finishing 2nd. And if you look at his races on a fast track, he has the tactical speed to be close up just off the pace which I think is needed in this race.

Next Best

#12 Dublin...My choice in the Derby had a tough post but ran well enough to finish 7th recording a 93 beyer, his 4th consecutive beyer in the 90's this year. There is only 1 other horse in the race who has run beyers over 90 in each race this year and thats Super Saver, the Derby winner. Dublin, despite no wins, has probably been the most consistent horse in the field. Outside post probably keeps him from winning, but definitely will use in exotics...

#8 Super Saver...Id love to see SS win today because it would be great for the sport having a possible Triple Crown alive going to the Belmont in 3 weeks. However, I just don't think it will happen. He got a dream trip in the Derby and obviously loved the slop, 2 things I dont see him getting today. Still a good horse and must use in exotics also...

Outside Chance

#5 Yawanna Twist...Lightly raced with only 4 starts, but finished 2nd behind American Lion and Awesome Act in last 2 starts. Well rested and has the speed to be up close if not on the lead which is usually a good thing at Pimlico. Might last for a piece...

#6 Jackson Bend...Another who had a rough trip in the Derby. Chased Eskendereya around the track his 2 previous starts but another who has the speed to be up close if not on the lead. Another who could hang on for a piece...

#10 Paddy O'Prado...This horse is a mystery. I liked him in derby because of the sloppy track and he ran a nice 3rd. This will be his first time on a fast dirt track, so who knows. He definitely has ability and could surprise, but I will only use him underneath...

The rest in order of preference...

#11 First Dude
#1 Aikenite
#2 Schoolyard Dreams
#4 Northern Giant
#9 Caracortado

I will play Pleasant Prince to Win and Place

Also will use #7 Lookin at Lucky on top in exacta and trifecta with #3, #8 and #12

Good luck to all today at the races...

Wabash... been a long, strange trip... economy sucks, but my position has been spared, just working like fiend 80+ a week which has cut into my handicapping just a bit...

Glad to see some of the same names around here...

Probable exacta price for 7-6 was 82 on a 2 dollar bet. A guy I work with called me wanting to throw up, had a $10 TRI 7-6-5 lol, just get that 11 out of there
