Probable Belmont starters...

here is a list of some probable Belmont starters...

Mine That Bird
Flying Private
Summer Bird
Dunkirk
Chocolate Candy
Mr. Hot Stuff
Charitable man
Miner's Escape

As of now, I would not consider Rachel Alexandra probable from what I've read. My guess would be she will not run. Still looks like a great race without her. Although most of the hype will be about the jockeys more than the horses I think. Will Borel ride Mine That Bird if RA does not run and will he be the 1st jockey to win the TC on 2 different horses? And who will Garret Gomez ride? He has been training aboard Chocolate Candy, but could also climb back aboard Dunkirk.

Smith is already off Mine That Bird, who will go off as a big favorite if the filly does not run. Borel will get back on. He will win a very strange Triple Crown. What bothers me is the fact that the field is just so poor this year, that a filly, all be it a very good one, handled them on a track that she did not like. I would not run here at the Belmont. She has nothing to prove now.

Chip Woolley has not committed 100% that Borel will get the mount at the Belmont yet. More than likely he will but he could have 2 strikes against him. First, he preferred RA over MTB in the Preakness and that might not have set well with Woolley( I stress might, nobody knows for sure), and secondly Borel has never ridden in the Belmont Stakes before. Not that he couldn't handle it, but it could play a factor in his decision...

Would you agree that this year's crop of three year olds who ran in the Triple Crown wa pretty pathetic? I though that they were terrible.

No, I would not agree with that at all. If you think this years is pathetic, what would you call last years? Outside of Big Brown, and because of the obvious steroid use his performances are questionable, the 3 year old crop last year turned out very weak. Two of the best 3 year olds this year had to drop out of the Derby in Quality Road and I Want Revenge. The sloppy track in the Derby made it tough to judge some of the performances in the Derby. Just because they were defeated by a filly in the Preakness does not make them weak.

I think sometimes too much is made of the fillies running against the colts. Its been proven the last 3 years that the greaat ones can compete against the boys. Rags to Riches won the Belmont 2 years ago, Eight Belles ran 2nd at the Derby last year and now Rachel Alexandra winning this years Preakness.

Without looking at any newcomers, I'd be on Dunkirk/MTB Exacta box

Brave Victory, third in the Peter Pan and trained by Nick Zito, will also run in the Belmont Zito said today. Zito also trains Miner's Escape and could have a 3rd entry with Nowhere to Hide who ran 17th in the Derby...
