RAN Curse

Hey Guys & Gals,
I was talkin' to a friend of mine and he happen to mention something about a
RAN Curse. Never really explained to me, except that no horse has ever won the derby who had it. I think it has something to do with the sire of a broodmare. Anybody ever heard of this?

OK, here's what I found.

Curse: Horses with RAN in broodmare sireline have never won the Derby.
RAN in sire line has produced 46% of the Derby winners with only 19% of the
sires.

I'm still searching.

CATHERINE623 writes, "The Raise a Native curse applies only to horses with RAN in the dam's sire line. Those who believe in this curse count this as bad. A horse with RAN in the dam's sire line has never won the Derby. On the other hand, horses with RAN in the sire line have won numerous Derbies. Some examples are Fusaichi Pegasus, Unbridled, Alysheba, and others."
