Sad day for Horse Racing?

Is this really a sad day for Horse Racing? I've always said I want to be alive to see a triple crown as i've never seen one but, with this weak field it just didn't feel right. I especially don't feel bad for the trainer. Today that cocky s. o. b. shares a shocking resemblence to Big Brown's ass. I lost on the race (as did many), but i still find myself happy and as excited about horse racing as I ever have. Now maybe we can watch Big Brown run against some real horses.

Yeah I hear ya. I have never witnessed a Triple Crown, and every time it gets this close, I think it will just make it sweeter when it happens.

Harness racing has their own version of the triple crown.

lol i'll let yall have the triple crown of harness racing. I don't trust a horse that's not allowed to run. The 2 or 3 times ive bet one they take a wrong step and get disqualified.

i think smarty jones should have and would have won the triple crown if not for the ride. i don't know if it was fixed but it sure didn't make sense that a horse that would come off the pace to destroy the field in all his other races would take off sprinting from the get go in the longest and most grueling leg only to get caught at the wire. i could see if the belmont was 5 furlongs for smarty's handlers to turn him into a sprinter but that ride defied all logic and what was even sadder was we never got to see the great smarty jones run again.

I totally agree. If Smarty Jones had a Desormeaux, Prado, Gomez, or a Borel on him he would have won the Triple Crown and that would have been awesome. The problem was the jockeys got together and sacrificed their horses. Actuallly I think Prado won but, Jerry Bailey killed smarty with a speed duel from the very begining. Any smart jockey would have just let that dumb ass go and burn out and suck him up in the stretch. I hate when a horse I like has Elliot on him. Watch that race on youtube.

Bailey is on Eddington #8
