Saratoga chatter

Inspired by Wabash's thread capping the meet, I thought we could use this thread to talk about upcoming races there, interesting angles, big name horses, or even tips or stuff that looks good, or stuff we would like to have another set of eyes on in anyway

I'll start with this one, James Marvin Stakes on Wed, race 3, featuring Pyro, Riley Tucker, Lord Snowdon looks like an interesting race.

Also on Wednesday race 9, the #4 Aegean looks real good to me, saw a stat that Wesley Ward has a tremendous record in training 2 year olds, so look for that too

I will be looking closer at the 4 horse in the 3rd on Thursday too Jazz Nation.

Thursday also has a Zito horse in a two year old race, he always has something special at Saratoga will prob be playing win bets on all for the whole meet and hop to hit a price. In the 7th he has #12 Cape Cod Carrie

Would like to see if anyone knows anything about the horses in the 9th on Thursday G2 2 year old colts. Haven't seen a form yet and I don't know if we have any real high profile horses in there, big name trainers I see and lots of them though

#4 Backtalk, a Smarty Jones colt, will be the one to beat in the G2 Sanford on Thursday. He won the G3 Bashford Manor last time out at Churchill but will probably be overbet off that effort. Others to watch are Enumerate and Louisvilleluminary, both trained by Steve Asmussen. Lucas entry of Soundman and Activity Report, and Bulls and Bears who posted a 87 Beyer(highest in field) when he won by a neck in his debut at Belmont earlier this month.

Wesley Ward is very good with 2 year olds. Always one of the top 2 year old trainers at Keeneland every meet.

In the James Marvin, watch #8 Honour Devil also. Argentina horse who broke his maiden in Argentina 2 years ago as a 3 year old then shipped to Al Sheba(UAE) for 2008-2009 stint. Record of 4-2-1 from 7 starts with earnings over $1.4 million. 1st time Lasix and in the very capable hands of Kiaran McLaughlin for his NA debut.

3rd is off the turf and 2B Steves Kitten scratched.

I really like a few prices today starting race 2. #9 Elsaroarin, who in his debut at Churchill in April ran 2nd behind Soundman, who ran in the Sanford last Friday and Flatter Than Me, who ran 2nd in his next start in the Bashford Manor behind Backtalk who won the Sanford. He finished 3rd as the favorite in his second start after a short layoff running greenly but finishing well. Look for him to run big in his 2nd start off layoff and draws nicely on the outside.

Another I like in race 1 today is #1 Sophisticated Lass. His last 3 tries on a dirt track yeilded beyers of 76,70,74 and he has run 2 beyers in the 70s on turf. The highest beyer by any other horse in this field is 68. Getting 7-1 right now with 20 min to post.

Opening DD 1/9

Nice start with the 1 horse winning at 4-1 odds. Just need the 9 in race 2 now...

No excuses for the 9 horse in race 2. Had the perfect trip and the lead at top of the stretch but just tired and ran 3rd.
