The Ballss(GIII); 1 1/16 Miles (Inner Turf) SEA OF SHOWERS has delivered as the favorite in each of her three starts since shipping to the U.S. from France, including latest at Keeneland Apr. 13 when returned from a three-month break. She will return ready for Frankel. STYLISH, a winning favorite in two latest, gamely was up for the win when last seen at Monmouth July 19. Velazquez takes over. SNOW DANCE had chances compromised with a troubled start in the G1 Diana, in which she was beaten just over three lengths, following her 27-1 G2 New York upset. Dirt: NONSUCH BAY Selections: 2 - 3 - 6 9. 3&Up; The Fourstardave (Grade II); 1 1/16 Miles (Mellon Turf) WAR ZONE has had his three U.S. starts well-spaced since returning to the races in late March. A winner in two of his three outs in this country, he rebounded last out to gamely take the G3 Poker when in from California. TRADEMARK narrowly missed in U.S. debut when a half-length behind War Zone at 13-1 in the G3 Poker, and followed with a decisive score in the G2 Bernard Baruch over yielding ground here last out. TAM'S TERMS has gone unbeaten through his past six outs since making the switch to turf. Dirt: EVENING ATTIRE Selections: 3 - 5 - 6 10. 3yo; The King's Bishop (Grade I); 7 Furlongs GHOSTZAPPER, an impressive debut winner, has rebounded since returning this year, going unbeaten in two. He exits a gritty win over Clock Stopper, who came back to win with authority here Aug. 16. ZAVATA has returned to winning ways since disappointing in May 24 return, most recently drawing off to a clear victory in the G2 Amersterdam. POSSE failed to make his stretch run in the G2 Amsterdam last out after taking three straight stakes while taking four of his five prior. He has a pair of breezes since, including a solid Aug. 18 move. Selections: 9 - 8 - 3 11. 3yo; The Travers (Grade I); 1 1/4 Miles STRONG HOPE has carried his sharp speed to the wire in past five of his six outs, gamely holding on in three, including the G2 Jim Dandy over heavily favored Empire Maker while again handling added ground. PEACE RULES could offer pace pressure to Strong Hope. A winner in six of 11, he exits a solid G1 Haskell score; mate EMPIRE MAKER failed to run down Strong Hope last out and will be sharper. TEN MOST WANTED adds blinkers after two near-miss seconds and will be along late. FUNNY CIDE can improve off disappointing Haskell. Selections: 3 - 1/1a - 4 12. HE'S BLUFFING raced well in July 4 return over turf, and followed with a 17-1 score off the turf here in the slop Aug. 10. |
