Thanks Smooth and Wabash

I have been tailing you guys as I try to learn about this sport. Today I had my first real horseracing thrill when I used a combo of your picks for a Churchill Downs Pick three starting in the fourth race. Cashed a $10 ticket for $470. What a great feeling! Anyway, thanks for helping us all out while we are learning. I am always amazed at the generosity here...and I hope I will be able to get good enough to start sharing info as well...

Larry, glad to know you made some $ off of our picks. We love the good natured feel of this board and the willingness of the folks that share their picks and insight here. Hopefully, we'll make you some more $ tomorrow!

As Smooth said, I also am always glad when someone else can make a few bucks using some of my picks. I've had better days picking than I did today, but glad you chose the right ones to play...

Congrats Larry. Now you know why you get the biggest bang for your buck in horse racing. The pick 3 is like a 3 game parlay in sports. Only difference is that you don't get odds of 47 to 1 in a 3 game parlay LOL.

Don't worry about trying to share info because it will take you a long time to try to get to a level where you can fully understand how this game works and being able to read a racing form. Just be ready to jump on the bandwagon when Smooth & Wabash posts picks.

Larry,

if you are really serious about getting into handicapping horse racing, I would suggest searching the web for books on how to handicap also. I only started handicapping horse racing last summer and I am still learning new and different angles on how to read the racing forum. There is so much information there to be used, but knowing how to read it and use it just comes with experience. A book that I purchased last year is called The Best of Thoroughbred Handicapping by James Quinn. It gives lots of easy to read information on handicapping and also some basic things on reading the daily racing form. Hope this helps and good luck...

One of my favorite reference books is the Complete Guide to T-bred Racing (or something like that) by Tom Ainslie. Whenever I am stuck on an angle or trying to refine some angle that I am toying with, I always read through some of his thoughts.

Basically Quinn, Brohamer, Ainslie, and Quirin are the ones I liked the best... I am not a huge fan of Beyer, but his books are good to read.

Sis City looks tough in the Oaks, not touching that race with her at 4-5 (2 early scratches to boot).

I can post Pino's plays under a separate thread if you want.

I actually liked Dance Away Copote as a 15-1 longshot today in the Oaks, but she scratched. My top choice now is Runway Model, with Sis City and In the Gold next in line...

Just wanted to say thanks to Smooth and Wabash for the referral on the books. I purchased "Ainslies Complete Guide To T-Bred Racing" and just started reading it. I like to go to the track and it would be great to learn more about picking horses.

Thanks and GL to all...
