Well Armed....

For anyone who bets on the future pools, a horse you might want to put a few bucks on is a horse named Well Armed. Dont get me wrong, there is no guarantee this horse will even qualify for the derby. He is a european horse trained by English trainer Clive Brittain. Brittain had a second place finisher in Bold Arrangement some 20 years ago and has never given up on the idea of having a european horse win the Derby. The thing I really like about this horse is he is from the first crop of 2000 Horse of the year and 2 time Breeders Cup Classic winner Tiznow. Tiznow was the leading first crop sire last year with his chief earner being Folklore, who was last years leading 2 year old fillie. Well Armed is definitely bred to go long and has already won a race at the derby 1 1/4 mile distance, something most every other horse will not have even attempted until Derby day. I have only read a few articles so far about this horse, but I am going to try and find out more about him and how he progresses over the next 3 months. In one article, Brittain was quoted as saying that Well Armed was a " bit of a baby last year, but is a man now." If he continues to improve, he could be a real sleeper come derby day...
