What is the rule on betting at 9pm? ...

I took it as if my bets were in before 9pm they would count. Looks like DavyDave sez the Race must run before 9pm. Which is it? I will play as DavyDave sez until I kno for sure...thnx. (Kinda favor the Los Alamitos/Meadowlands tracks..which doesnt really start til 7p est...so I'd like to kno in order not to study if the case may be so....tho I lose out cause I cant play them races...)

5. The deadline will be 9:00 PM EST on Sunday evening. You can wager on anything up until 9:00 PM. At the end of Sunday whoever has the bigger bankroll will win.

The way I read this was that no matter if the race was after I could bet ... sorry DavyDave for the inconvenience...but can you verify plz? thnx.

We'll get a clarification for next week...

Looking through the threads of the earlier contests I found the thread where this came up in the April 20-22 contest.

Cheezer posted:

Jack,

5. The deadline will be 9:00 PM EST on Sunday evening. You can wager on anything up until 9:00 PM. At the end of Sunday whoever has the bigger bankroll will win.

Does this mean the post time has to be by 9:00 P.M., or your wager has to be posted by then?

Jack responded:

Sorry Cheezer - just saw your post now. It's a 9:00 post deadline.

This answer is not crystal clear, so I'll ask Dr. Jack for a clarification.

I think we have always said as long as the race you are wagering on is off by 9 PM. This originally came up when I wanted to place a bet on a pick 4 where the first race went off before 9 and we decided then it was ok since the race where the wager takes place was off before 9, even though other races in the wager went off after. So you can play a pick 4, pick 3, or DD where some of the races go off after 9, but the original race to start the bet has to go off before 9

I think that all races should should be finished by 9pm on Sunday night. This gives the scorer (dave) a chance to tally up the results before he goes to bed. It also gives everyone a chance to see where you have finshed in the contest. If you place a pick 3 or 4 wagers then that might mean that someone (east coast) has to stay up another couple hours because of a pick 3 or 4. What if someone has a pick 6? Then people have to stay up even longer. We are blessed to have 4 days to place wagers. That means 48 hours of live racing to wager in four days. That should be enough...........I don't really care either way, just stating some thoughts. I am very greatful for the contest.

true..but then again...the tracks are open til 2:30 a...some of us are not "day" breeders and can enjoy the playing of those tracks at those times...also (if playing devils advocate...) one can say stopping at 9pm forces one to wage on tracks that is difficult to learn just because they must sleep during morn hours..live betting also difficult for those whose hours of wake time are at night. Dont get me wrong...I can play any way anyone likes...but there might be someone out there who is like me and just has not the cojones to ask the question...why not allow all tracks?

No one is setting a time table on Dave to score...and just because you are blessed with 4 days...in actuality I would truly get 3...cause my 4th day would be closed off...(since I sleep til 3-4p...) and your 48 hrs is more like my 24 hrs...while you sleep..I am (hence the Ricky Rick) BANGING AWAY BABY!! BANGING AWAY!! WOOHOO!! (no pun thr..rofl) I am just answering the previous post by Kat...and not sarcastically plz.

I truly just didnt kno the way to look at the rule...and make sure that anyone who might be thinking it and not askin it gets it answered as well. Cause I (and dont think Im gay for saying this..) love da betting and competition with youall.

But I am good with the interpretation to the RULE #5. All bets need to be in progress before 9p and no bet can be made after 9p. Can I get the ayeaye on that?

I have always been under the assumption that this rule was a 9:00 PM last post time and you could play any race up until this time. If it started at 8:59 and ended after 9:00 – that would be okay

However if the majority thinks it should be the other way – I don’t really care. Unless it’s overwhelming majority the other way I think we should leave it as is how I interpreted above.

GL all

i do feel for the guy,but #1 los alamitos does not start their card
until 7:00 p.m pst. that`s 10:00 on the east coast(i live here in cali.)
and #2,i agree with jack leave it the way it is..
i mean sure it would be to cool do los al.(sundays they start @6:05 pt.),
but that would mean i might loose more $$$`s on those damn
quarter horses lol!!..those are fun,but shit guys they are so un-predictable,
more so than your regular horses. so i must go with the doc on this
one!!

right on...but I did think the idea was to see how others handicap other tracks...to see which people picked what to help each other select the best choices? kinda mutes the point if you only stick to certain tracks all the time...you miss out on what others can handicap and maybe even find a new way to do it...I dunno..just throwing it out there so we can chitchat! w00t!

to me its not a big deal because i dont play that track.but the deadline seems fair seeing how its only the final day and not a daily 9pm est deadline so there is still 3prior nights where those tracks can be bet on
