Wood Memorial and Bluegrass Stakes

Aqueduct - Wood Memorial (G1)
By DAVE LITFIN

1. EDDINGTON 2. VALUE PLUS 3. MASTER DAVID

EDDINGTON was grossly overbet in the Gotham to begin with, and it didn't help that he was knocked back to last at the break and had to try making up ground into a stiff headwind through the stretch; reunited with Bailey, either of his two-turn wins with blinkers added at Gulf puts him in the thick of this. VALUE PLUS rated kindly just off a very fast pace, moved for the lead in tandem with favored Read the Footnotes and put that rival away in midstretch, and held bravely in Fla. Derby over a very dry and sandy surface; extremely dangerous. MASTER DAVID an obvious threat despite being re-routed to this spot due to minor setback out West, as connections look to tighten the screws for Louisville; a rare member of current 3YO crop who has never been out of the money under all sorts of conditions.

Keeneland - Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G1)

1. LION HEART 2. LIMEHOUSE 3. PREACHINATTHEBAR

If front-runners are not stopping today, you have to like the chances of LION HEART. He is the speed of the speed, and will be very difficult to collar if he continues to move forward second time back. LIMEHOUSE has good natural speed, but he has learned to rate more kindly in his recent races, a trait that will serve him well in the Kentucky Derby. Unfortunately, it might place him at a disadvantage in this race. But why change his style today, when the Derby is his primary goal? PREACHINATTHEBAR is improving, and deserves respect. The concern is that he will probably have to make an early move into contention to maximize his chances. ACTION THIS DAY must rebound from a sub-par performance. Underlaid odds are unappealing. MUSTANFAR, BREAKAWAY, and THE CLIFF'S EDGE must hope that their closing styles are not hindered by a speed bias if they hope to play major roles. THAT'S AN OUTRAGE must improve.

Who do ya like ???
