Einsteins - Sony Open
All bets placed at Bet365
72 Hole Match Betting 375$ to win 300$ = Charles Howell III to beat Jonathon Byrd (-125) Since 2002, Howell has notched five top-fives in 10 starts at the Sony Open. From June through September of last year, he recorded five finishes of sixth or better in 12 starts. Howell’s hot streak aided him to finish eighth on Tour in scoring average. While Byrd is coming off a T3 in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions (an event he won last year), he has not been successful in the Sony Open. In seven career starts since 2002, Byrd has only recorded a single top-25. 200$ to win 200$ = Steve Marino to beat Ryan Palmer (+100) Since 2008, Marino has finished no worse than seventh in three Sony Open starts. Last year, he finished with a share of second, ranking fourth in both driving distance and greens hit. Despite a lackluster 2011, Marino has been very reliable in this event. After a T9 in his Sony Open debut in 2009, Simpson struggled with results of T46 and T77. Last year’s most consistent player is coming off a T3 in the season opener making those performances something of an afterthought. The thin field of talent this week only serves to make Simpson an even stronger pick. $220 to win $200 = Chris Kirk to beat Vijay Singh (-110) Kirk finished 30th in his first start at the Sony Open last year (ranked T21 in fairways hit and T6 in greens for the week) and he’s coming off a T7 in the 2012 season opener. Kirk ranked 25th in All-Around Ranking for 2011 and 27th in birdie average. Despite an inconsistent rookie season, Kirk is an emerging young player. Vijay is almost 50 years old and typically starts off the season slow. In his last four Sony Open matches (from most recent to least recent) he has finished 57th, 52nd, 45th, 34th; getting increasingly worse, in the hot weather of Hawaii, with age. Top 5 Finishers 200$ to win 300$ = Steve Stricker +150 100$ to win 450$ = Charles Howell III +450 Top 10 Finishers 200$ to win 450$ = Charles Howell III +225 Top European 200$ to win 350$ - Carl Pettersson +175 There are only 8 Europeans in this weekends field and of those 8, I only expect one to finish in the top 25 this week. The Swede, Carl Pettersson, missed the cut at Honolulu a year ago, but finished T5 in 2010 -- his second top-10 finish at the site since 2006. Including the Fall Series, Pettersson recorded a pair of top-fives and five top-20 results in his final seven starts, not missing any cuts. In 2011, he finished 23rd in both strokes gained – putting and All-Around Ranking. About $1,500 spent total. Good luck this weekend with your cards.

1-0-1 +300 so far (with lots pending)
Adding: 3rd Round Matchup 450$ to win 200$ = Steve Stricker to have a better day than Gavin Coles -225 Steve Stricker shot a -4 on Thursday, with just one bogie, but started off Friday with a double bogey on hole #1. Though he finished the day -1, he was -4 on the final 10 holes and with him being just three shots back of 2nd place, I expect another Thursday like performance (with a -4 or -5 day) today. Gavin Coles went -1 on Thursday, with an eagle, a birdie and three bogies then shot a -4 on Friday with four birdies and no bogies. This is Coles first PGA tour match since 2007, spending years on the Nation Wide tour, so he'll of course be looking for a strong performance this weekend but I don't see it happening. He starts off the season slow missing 18 of the first 19 cuts of last years Nationwide Tour. Though he had a bogie-less Friday, I expect him to run into trouble on some of those same par 4's on Saturday. In 27 PGA tour events in 2007, Coles had 7 finishes in the top 50 (27% of the time) ... Steve Stricker is a winner. Plain and simple.
