Andre Dawson Elected to Hall of Fame

Congratulations to the Hawk, he obviously deserved it. Dawson was my favorite player as a kid Very surprised Alomar & Bylelven did not get in.

This once again showed that having these sportswriters as the people who makes these selections is a friggen joke.

8 years ago Dawson is not a HOFer and today he is(in my opinion he still is not), joke number 1. Alomar is who is arguably one of the top 3 second basemen ever not getting in is joke number 2. And joke number 3 will be next year when Blylevin finally gets in after being on the ballot for 15 years.

Hornsby only have seen in snippets but from what I have seen I have always had him at the top of my list.

Collins never watched anything from him, know he was a very good offensive player but have no idea about his defensive abilities, although he was probably pretty good defensively as well.

Robinson a remarkable player and yes I would still put Alomar in front of Robinson. Again just my opinion and probably also because I saw alot more of what Alomar could do than Jackie Robinson

You named three guys that played 60+ years ago. I have been watching baseball for a few decades now(wow hate admitting that, lol!) and Alomar in that time is the best second basemen I have ever seen play. This guy could do it all. As great as his offense was and what he could do offensively his defense was even better. This guy took away more hits and runs than any other 2B I have ever seen.

One day, if you're fortunate enough, you will look back and be able to judge many players, as I have. I never saw Roger or Collins play, but as a baseball fanatic when I was a boy, I knew ALL the records.... I guess my interest in math was a part of it, being able to compare the older guys etc. When WGN started showing baseball games, and the Dodgers showed up at Wrigley, they were all there..Jackie, Roy, the Duke, Newcomb, Erskine, Pee Wee..and all the stories about the old players. Hornsby was a coach then for the Cubs and was often interviewed, that is where I got my knowledge of the game, ..glued to WGN for 3 hours a day..

Todays kids, different world with all the P C games

Congrats to Andre Dawson. It's a shame it took so long. Look at the numbers, no doubt a Hall of Famer.
