Agreed. Been pretty apparent that Colon is done.

Need Kris Medlen to make it back up and stay healthy.

How much longer will the Bravos go with him? IMO, it's time to give him his walking papers!! Especially when you consider all the top shelf talent that they traded for that's down on the farm (that's their tale, I sit on mine).

if he gets another start he should be a heavy underdog, couldn't believe he was favored last night.

Bartolo Colon....

Nothing wrong with him. Just in denial of being too old to pitch or play the game any more.

You aren't kidding PPM. Reminds of the golden years when I made a mint off of pitchers like Jose Lima (circa 2005) when he was a KC Royal. He went 1-11 on the road with an ERA over 8. I believe opposing hitters had an average of well over .340 against him. It was a beautiful thing to watch! I built a new wing on my home during that year.

The late Darryl Kile (with Colorado, 1999) was a money maker as well.

Another guy who I sorely missed was Dewon Brazelton. I made a living off of him any time he pitched on the road. Starting with the 2003 season, he was 0-5 on the road, ERA of 6.44. The 2004 Devil Rays season. He was 6-8 that year, however his road record was 0-5 with an ERA of 9.62. In 2005, he finished with a 1-8 record. He was 0-4 on the road with an ERA of 8.51. This SOB walked 60 guys in 70+ IP that year. The Rays then traded him to the Padres in 2006. I started crying...He made only 2 starts for the Padres in '06, went 0-1 on the road with a nice ERA of 11.57 (only threw 7 innings)...and after that year, he was out of baseball for good. Finished his career with a 8-25 mark. Finished his lackluster career with a record of 0-16 on the road. Forgot to mention, he pitched briefly in '02, had 2 starts with the Rays, went 0-1, you got it, started his career with a road loss.

I also remember making a ton of $$ off of Mark Davis (circa 1984) when he was with the SF Giants. Went 5-17 that year.

We still have hope...

ST. LOUIS — Mets officials were “stunned” Friday by Bartolo Colon’s decision to sign a minor league deal with the Twins, shunning an opportunity for a return to Flushing.

A club source indicated there was a sense of disbelief within the Mets’ front office that the 44-year-old Colon — who became a cult hero of sorts in his three-year tenure with the club — had passed on the reunion.

Colon became a free agent on Thursday, a week after he was designated for assignment by the Braves, for whom he was 2-8 with an 8.14 ERA.

“We made a strong effort to re-sign Bartolo,” general manager Sandy Alderson said in a statement. “But he decided to go elsewhere.”

The Twins only will have to pay Colon the prorated minimum once he’s placed on the major league roster — the Braves are on the hook for the remainder of his one-year contract worth $12.5 million.

If Colon had signed with the Mets, who beat the Cardinals 6-5 on Friday, he likely would have replaced Rafael Montero in the starting rotation.

Earlier this week, club officials were confident Colon would choose the Mets based on his history with the club and the fact he still has a New Jersey home.

The Twins are just 1 ˝ games removed from the AL Central lead, which could have played a factor in his decision.
