Beachy 7 Ks thru 3 innings

Young Braves pitcher has 7 strikeouts in just 3 innings.

43 pitches so far.

Will he sniff Clemens' and Wood's 20 Ks?

So, Beachy with 9 Ks in the 5th right now.

Smoltz doing color for the game. He had 2 separate games with 15 Ks in his day. That's still the franchise record.

20 may be slipping away, but Beachy still has a shot at 15 or 16.

And apparently Smoltz's 15 K games are NOT the franchise record. They're the Atlanta Braves record. Spahn has the franchise record with 18 Ks in Milwaukee.

They came back after a break and corrected themselves.

Tie game still.

Just hypothetically....what if it's 9th inning and Beachy is sitting on 14 or 15 with like 120 pitches? Do you as a manager let his start the 10th?

I guess it depends on the batting situation, too, but if that isn't a factor.

Halladay had 10 Ks in 7 innings for Philly tonight.

At least Atlanta won.

Geaux Bravos!

7 innings, 6 hits, 2 runs, and 10K's for Doc ... below average start for him, but phils get the win, so its ok

You mean "Clemens" and "steroid" user.

Clemens wasn't using hormones when he was with Boston to start his career, which is when he recorded the two 20's. Of course, he pitched against steroid users frequently later in his era, when he was also using.

Well, you know how you're a dope-smoking hippie?

Like most dope-smoking hippies, you probably feel you can recognize other dope-smoking hippies on sight.

As a former ridiculously strong athlete that used every anabolic drug in the world for about 15 years, I can spot a user in 10 seconds. Intangible characteristics of skin, muscle, and water, easily recognized by those in the know.

Anabolics weren't on the DEA schedule of illegal substances in the US until Feb 1991, and weren't aggressively prosecuted until about 10 years ago. Jose Canseco and I bought injectibles from the same guy in the A's organization. There was certainly no drug testing in the 80's. If Clemens wanted to use in 1986, he would have and could have. He didn't.
