Betting info: Tampa Bay Rays v. Boston Red Sox

At the time of this writing, the following Match Odds/Moneyline were available: Tampa Bay Rays (2.02, +102) and Boston Red Sox (1.92, -109)

Tampa Bay missed out on another opportunity to move a game closer to Boston in the AL Wild Card standings, dropping a 6-2 road contest to the Baltimore Orioles. The Rays will start this series four games back in the race and time is running out. “This is typical of what’s happened to us this year, where we’ve played good baseball, but our offense kind of goes away,” commented Rays manager Joe Maddon. The club has a good chance of scoring more runs in this series, completing a three-game home sweep of the Red Sox just a week ago, outscoring them by a combined 22-8 margin. Tampa Bay is 33-25 versus division opponents this year.

Rays starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson is 12-10 with a 2.96 ERA in 26 starts this season and picked up a no-decision effort against the Red Sox last time out at Tropicana Field. The right-hander allowed three runs and five hits over six frames, while giving up a home run in his fourth consecutive outing. Hellickson will be making his 14th road start, coming in with a 6-5 record and 3.62 ERA, as opponents are hitting just .228 against him. The rookie has tallied an even 1-1 mark and 4.95 ERA in four career outings (three starts) versus the Red Sox.
