Blame A-Rod and Russell "Never gotten a big hit" Martin
Disclaimer : I had no bet on this game or series and have no affiliation of any kind with either team
Arod and Russ Martin are the definite goats tonite. Has Arod ever done anything in the postseason other than 2009? Granted 2009 was spectacular but have you ever seen a "world class player" look so weak at so many clutch moments???? Russell Martin, has this guy ever done anything good offensively EVER???? Saw this guy on the dodgers for years and would just cringe everytime he'd come to bat in a big spot. Same ol story tonite Martin just sucks A-Rod is just a head case. Did anyone at all really feel he'd do anything but make an out there to end the game??

A-Rod is the most un clutch player in the entire league. I would rather than had Montero pinch hit for him in the 7th and 9th inning. Hell, id even rather have Nunez hit than him as well. Him hitting cleanup cost the Yankees for sure. I said it from game 1, Tex should have been hitting 4th the entire series, A-Rod probably should have been hitting 6th honestly.

Being a Met fan, I do not like the Yankees. Mainly because my Yankee fan friends love to rub it in that the Mets suck. They happen to be right but, hey, that's another story.
Yankee fans should remember the other team gets paid to win albeit much less $. Instead of blaming A-Rod or Martin or anyone, how about taking your hat off to the Detroit pitching staff yesterday for making the big pitches in game changing situations. Fister, Scherzer, Benoit, and Valverde had a lot to do with the failure of Yankee players to get hits in big spots. IMO Leyland sent a message to his team before the game even started by telling everyone Verlander was not available. He showed confidence and patience and, other than using Scherzer, went with his season long formula. Girardi managed "scared" IMO. For example, Phil Hughes seemed to have it going but was removed after giving up a base hit. It probably didn't really matter as other than CC the pen gave up no runs, but it sort of reminded me of betting with scared money. It's difficult to win that way. |

A-Rod isn't even close to what he used to be. An average player now. His bat speed has diminished big time in the last 2 years.
