Cats Plays of the Day- FRIDAY BIG ASS PLAY

Well lookie here. I dont post baseball everyday, but only when I like one. Well today I like one a lot. I also have a big one in WNBA, so we wont get crazy.

Houston(+115) 15* BIG ASS PLAY

Listed Lee and Wandy only.

First lets start by saying Philly with Cliff Lee is only favored by -125 when just a few games ago Josh Johnson came into Houston and was favored by -130. I know JJ is good but Phils with Lee on the mound should be favored by more, not to mention not a lower line. People think Houston has gave up and packed it in. Houston cant win on the road but at home they can play. They are 35-30 at home and Wandy is nearly unhittable posting a 7-2 record in 12 starts with a ERA of 1.73 and a WHIP of 1.00. In his last 3 he is 1-2 with ERA of 2.14 and a WHIP 0.952. His ERA is only 2 and that is even after giving up 4 ERs in 6 innings at Florida. Wandy is like night and day on the road VS. home. In his last 4 at home, my man is 4-0 and in those 4 games, he went 8 innings, 7 innings, 7 innings and then 9 innings. In those 4 games, he only gave up 1 ER!!! In all of those games he never gave up more than 5 hits. So we now know that Wandy is going to go at least 7 innings, possibly more and he isnt going to give up more than 5 hits and isnt going to give up more than 1 run. We all agree on that? Ok now onto how Phil will matchup against Wandy. Ok now lets look into Philly vs. Lefties. On paper its looks very good. 27-14, averaging 5.4 runs per game. Well lets look at it for real. Those numbers are for the whole games, not just when the lefty hitters on in there. The last time out, Sanchez and Giants only gave up 3 hits and 1 ER against the Phils. Before that, Mahom and Pitt only gave 5 hits and 1 ER. If you put a quality lefty on the mound, they cant hit them. Wandy has awful stats against Philly but that was only 1 game and way back in 2006. I kind of think lately this Philly team goes as Ryan Howard does. and he doesnt do so well against lefties (.199 5 HR but he has 74k's in 191 AB) that means he is striking out more than once every 3 ABs against lefties. Who is good VS lefties?? Well Victorino is batting .333 against lefties but he is cold as ice. He has 6 hits in the last 10 games, thats a whopping .146 batting average. Werth is a little better lately against lefties he is .311 but only 8 hits in last 10 games for .266 average. Utley is hitting .298 against lefties but only .263 in last 10, including 0 hits in past 3 games. Ibanez isnt bad against lefties either hitting .278, but do we need to mention is the worst hitter in the majors right now. He has 1 hit in past 10 games for a whopping .034 average lol. Little Jimmy Dickens only hits .227 against Lefties too. Ok thats enough about why Phils wont hit Wandy. Philly is ice cold in their last 7 games hitting the ball. They are averaging 1.9 runs a game in those 7. Houston isnt averaging much better 2.9 runs a game in past 7, but all of those games were on the road including 2 shutouts to Lilly and Garland. But that is expected on road and the reason they are 28-40 away from home

Lets talk about Houston bats, they hit .275 vs lefties but they dont score a lot of runs only 4.3 a game. However that is plenty with Wandy on the mound. Lee hits .307 with 22 HRs and in his last 10 games he is only hitting .219 but he has only faced a lefty once and that was the great 4 hit gem that Lilly just pitched, but Lee went 2-4!! Tejada hits .298 and all 10 of his HRs were against lefties. Bourn hits .296 against lefties and he has been on fire lately hitting .368 in his last 10. Berkman hits .272 against lefties with all 18 of his HRs against lefties. Hunter Pence hits .281 against lefties and all 20 of his HRs are against lefties too. Cliff hasnt faced many of the Stros but Carlos Lee is a career 5 of 16 and 2 of those 5 are HRs. Tejada is 3 of 12 but 2 of those are doubles. Cliff got rocked in his last game finally and now he has to fix it against a very good lefty hitting team.

Well thats it folks. I just took an hour out of my life to give you the best writeup in history. lol It better hit now lol. I actually love it and dont think it wont. Lets cash this one early and often and look for a great gem by Wandy.

Give em hell folks -Cat
