Cousins-Posey
You have to be kidding me...Cousins is getting death threats over this incident and now Brian Sabean (GM and an Executive so called professional baseball person) is basically saying he hopes Cousins career is destroyed over this play is an absolute asinine statement on his part.
This kid (Cousins) was in tears after the game over what happened to Posey and has been remorseful in the media and twitter to this day even though he did nothing wrong. Sabean went on to say that "we have a long memory". Maybe the Giants ownership should end Sabean's career. Just my thoughts.

I've seen a lot worse hits at the plate.
There was INTENT on Cousins busting up Posey, in order to bust the ball loose to be safe. I'm 100% positive Cousins didn't mean to hurt Posey, let alone take him out for the year. As a baseball umpire at the Legion and NCAA D-II level, Cousins would have been dumped. A no-brainer, it's in the rules. Now should MLB change the rule to protect the catcher/2nd or short getting taken out to bust up a DP? Going back on INTENT...A guy, who umped in the Minor Leagues for 7-8 years, told me the definition of intent: F*CKING ONES SELF. So if you think there is intent, take action. Whether is an ejection, interference, obstruction, etc. Going back to my ? about protecting the catcher/2nd baseman/shortstop. I say protect them. Just my .02 |
