Dale Sveum Is Cub's New Manager

Dale Sveum has accepted an offer to be the next manager of the Chicago Cubs.

Sveum, previously the Milwaukee Brewers' hitting coach, will be officially introduced on Friday morning at Wrigley Field, the team said. He succeeds Mike Quade, who was fired a disappointing 71-91 season that extended the Cubs' infamous championship drought to 103 seasons.

Sveum will receive a three-year contract from the Cubs, a baseball source said.

In my lifetime veteran managers Durocher, Frey, Zimmer, Baylor, Baker and Sweet Lou couldn't get that World Series ring.

If the Cubs ever win, it will have a lot more to do with the team having the right players than it will with who is managing them. I will give the Theo thing 5 years. If it doesn't happen under his watch will it ever?

My dad told me when I was 10 that he would die, I would die, my kids would die and their kids would die and the Cubs still will not have won a WS. That was in 1979. He's gone, I hope he was wrong about the rest.

love most of the "sort of" cubs fans who just go to games thinking that Theo and company are all of a sudden going to deliver a WS ring to northside this year. you have a horrible MLB team, contracts that hamstring you for years, nothing in the farm system....

I have a question for you. Just where do these Cub fans see the games played these days?

If any of them think 2012 is the year, they are fools, but still just fans.

Now if they get Albert, that may change the outlook

Strange how MLB's new CBA put a road block in the way Theo helped build the Red Sox
