2 Million left on his salary for this year so I would assume the Tigers wouldn't even ask for anything back and just give/force him to Boston.

Ed Price is now reporting that Johnny Damon told him that he can block any potential move to Boston and is not inclined to rejoin the Red Sox.
It's too bad for Boston that they might not get an extra outfielder for the stretch run, but Damon is a veteran that negotiated this right into his contract. There's also a chance that the Red Sox just did this to block Damon from joining the division rival Rays, so perhaps one objective has already been fulfilled.

I suppose Damon mightve seen this day coming and had Boras make sure he couldnt be given away
