Dodgers acquire Garland & Thome

Thome pickup for road games in World Series?

Can he play some first base or be used solely off bench?

giants were rumored to be looking for a power hitting left hander but there were no confirmed reports they were really after thome despite espn reporting the dodgers got thome to block the giants... dodgers will platoon him with loney at first but with a lifetime .167 batting average at dodger stadium and a career ave .256 in sept and oct. , one has to wonder why.... he has a lifetime .221 postseason batting average with 17 hrs and 57 rbis in 59 games and 204 at bats..... definately not my type of player i would want to join my team with the offense already in place.... this will cause havoc as they try to find how to use him and where to bat him...

mark my words dodger fans !!!!!!!

Thome is also left handed and can't play 1st due to his bad back. He called the LAD and told them that yesterday. He is all class in the clubhouse as Torre said after they got him.

wow.

Colorado Rockies gave up a 10 win Triple A pitcher for Contreras....

apparently they have not seen him pitch this year!

I dont get the Thome thing....I know LAD one of the favs for NL Pennant, but he is just going to sit there and rust...cant really play a MLB Ready 1st base anymore

Thome was a cheap DH for the World Series.

Williams should be GM of the Century for getting anything for Contreras. A soggy resin bag in return would have been a helluva deal for the White Sox. Someone should tell Kenny Williams he can go to jal for stealing.

No one is talking about Garland. I think that this was a huge pick up! Dodgers do not have a true 5th starter and Garland will fit perfect.

Basically the Thome deal was for a PH and like a couple of you said already to DH "WHEN" the Dodgers go to the World Series.

First of all, Garland

0-4 this season vs Cards and Phillies, 4 starts, 7.30 ERA

Thome playing for LA, going to try and beat the team that is paying his salary, Philly, is hilarious. Good luck to him

And Kenny as GM of the year?? More like the GM of Colorado giving up anything to get him, as Kenny had no choice because Ozzie, who claimed Jose was a POS, kept using him. So Kenny has to take a hit for that. And hits for Rios and Peavy for the sum of $130 Million.

Then kudos to Hawk, Mulligan (score morning host, BIG W S fan, Stone and Rongy (wouldn't trade acon unless he wasgetting Hanley in return, LMAO) and all the W Sox fans who sent Bacon the ROY trophy a month ago or more and Bacon showed his appreciation by hitting .223 in August.

Nothing personal here, just observations

Good stuff. I agree on the CWS stuff. According to Mully & Hanley this morning, Williams and Cooper made Ozzie start Contreras again. They also compared the 5 Chicago Boppers for the last 3 years in HR, RBI, OBP, Runs...and guess who led all catagories....Thome. They want Pods to lead off and be the DH next year. I know the CWS have a paid interepeter for the Latinos who travels with them. Guess who???? Ozzie Jr. No wonder they have so many Latinos. BTW Ozzie Jr is dating a girl from Streator. He was here 2 weeks ago for a cookout. I think yesterday sent a message to Dye also as they may be looking for a big home team discount since no one wanted him for the chase. Bacon still wins ROY with a hot September.

I don't have a clue who the AL candidates are, but Bacon is hitting a PIGLY ..121 the last week or so. If the season was a month younger, most teams would send him back for more suckling at AAA level

Ozzie Jr..pretty funny how Ozzie keeps finding ways to get him a paycheck..Last year, maybe longer, the SCOR gave him Sunday nights to talk W Sox in Spanish..hehehe
