Friday's Plays !! (One Side and One Total)

first the re-cap. Lost a tough one with the Jays yesterday, bringing me to 1-3 for the year (-$230). Time to turn this shit around. Here we go.

I looked long and hard this morning, and I found not 1, but 2 that I really liked. So, without further ado.......

This afternoon I like the over 10 runs in the Red Sox/Yankees. Yes, I know the Red Sox are not hitting at all right now. But this is the home opener at Fenway, and these are the Yankees. The whispers throughout the spring were that Hughes had lost significant velocity on his fastball. Those whispers proved true in his first start (0-1, 11.25 ERA, 1.75 WHIP, .294 BAA). The core of the Sox (Ortiz, Drew, Youkilis and Ellsbury) have all had great succes against him in the past, and they will again today. I assure you Boston will not go winless this season. Meanwhile, Lackey stinks. His numbers last year were not good (especially in day games where he sported a 5.77 ERA and a .300 BAA). This year he is off to a flying start (0-1, 22.09 ERA, 3.27 WHIP and a .476 BAA). 17 times these two teams have met in Fenway over the past 3 seasons. 12 went over the total. Today will too.

Tonight I like Big Z, Carlos Zambrano and the Cubs, at +105 from the Brewers. As I pointed out last time, Z's numbers are MUCH better at night than in the day. Last year at night his ERA was 2.08, while in the day it was 5.51. Over the past 3 years his night ERA is 2.94, while in the day it is 5.15. Against the Brewers last year he was 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA and a .203 BAA. At Miller Park last year he was 2-0 with a 2.40 ERA and a .137 BAA. Over the past 3 years he was 3-0 against the Brewers with a 2.55 ERA and a .219 BAA. Over the past 3 years at Miller Park he was 4-0 with a 1.66 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP and a .147 BAA. Meanwhile, Wolf is more like a poodle. This spring his ERA was 8.74 and his WHIP was 1.846. He followed that up by getting hammered his first start this year (0-1, 13.50 ERA, .500 BAA and a 3.00 WHIP). Last year against the Cubs he was 0-2 with a 6.39 ERA. Over the past 3 years he is 3-4 against the Cubs with a 4.68 ERA. Last year the Cubs batted an NL-best .287 against lefties. They will hit Randy so hard tonight that he will cry "boy".

Friday's plays are over 10 in the Red Sox/Yankees and the Cubs +105.
