Futures with some value

I'm not talking about the usual teams like Yankees, Phillies, Red Sox, Cards or any team under 15-1 to win the WS or 10-1 to win the NL or AL since it makes no sense to bet on any team with that line before the season starts since it probably won't move a lot and you'll have a chance to watch the teams and make that exact same bet mid season with pretty much the same odds. Thia are all long shots but with some chance to make the playoffs where you can easily cover yourself and still win money.

SF Giants (10-1 to win the N.L.) (20-1 to win the World Series)
The Giants have a great pitching staff with a very good bullpen, teams with those arms always have a chance even when the offense is still has many problems. On the bright side with DeRosa and Huff, you won't have Bengie Molina hitting cleanup, Pablo will be on his second season and will probably be more fit to not wear out at the end of the season and there's a good chance we'll see top prospect Buster Posey. On the down side an injury on the pitching staff could mean an authomatic loss every 5th day. They play on a wide open division so they have a chance.

Oakland A's (28-1 to win the A.L.) (55-1 to win the World Series)
Tha A's are a big gamble, they have the potential to have a great rotation but that's a big if with 2 guys at the top who missed the whole 09 season in Sheets and Duchscherer, Brett Anderson could have a huge year. They have a lineup with not much power but it probably fits better with their ballpark and during the season we night see call ups from top prospects like Michael Taylor and Chris Carter. The Angels got worse this offseason and that opens the door to the rest of the A.L. West.

Washington Nationals (75-1 to win the N.L.) (150-1 to win the World Series)
OK, I'm crazy, I don't think this team will win the N.L. East with the Phillies there, but this team isn't a 150-1 team, they improved their weak bullpen a lot with a new closer, new set up man a new middle relievers, the offense should be good with Zimmerman, Dunn and Willingham in the heart. The big question is the pitching staff which looks terrible at the start of the season, but by june it could look something like Wang, Strasburg, Marquis, Lannan and Olsen, certainly not that bad to be a 150-1 team. This is a really long shot but if they could somehow be in the race for the WC it might be a fun season. This is a high risk bet but I see some value on it.

N.Y. Mets (10-1 to win the N.L.) (20-1 to win the World Series)
It's impossible for this team to have as many injuries as they had in 09 so that's a good step foward. If healthy, their offense with Reyes, Wright, Bay and Beltran when he comes back can challenge the Phillies. The big question is the pitching, obviously they have Santana but the rest are "?", they've had those same problems with the rotation in 07 and 08 and that didn't stop them from competing so at 20-1 I like the value.

Like the N.L. teams a little bit more since it's more open than the A.L.

both in winnable divisions, and once you get to playoffs, as we saw last year, anyone can win.
