Giants acquire chris ray and michael main from rangers for bengie molina

wow.....

The Rangers acquired Giants catcher Bengie Molina in a trade that sends reliever Chris Ray and pitcher Michael Main to San Francisco. The trade was officially announced Thursday.

Molina, who turns 36 in July, has about $2.3 million remaining on the $4.5 million deal he signed in the offseason, and it's unclear how much money the Rangers would take on if the trade goes through.

Daniels, though, said the club has "some flexibility" to add payroll without going into further details.

The move gives the Rangers much-needed depth at catcher, as Texas backstops have combined to hit .212 with seven homers and 30 RBIs this season.

And for the Giants, it opens up more playing time for Buster Posey, who was ranked as the No. 4 prospect in baseball by MLB.com before the season. Posey, who has played at first base and has made just two starts behind the plate this season, is hitting .289 with one homer and 10 RBIs in 27 games for the Giants.

The Giants also add bullpen depth with Ray, who is 2-0 with a 3.41 ERA in 35 appearances this season. He's also struck out 16 batters and walked 16 in 31 2/3 innings pitched.

this just gives texas more hitting in a lineup that scores ..... probably will bat 7 or 8th ...just count how many double plays he will add.

giants still need some bats but their relief just got that much deeper with ray involved
