Halladay set to meet Yankees in Phils debut

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Roy Halladay will make his Phillies debut next week against a familiar foe.

He will open the team's Grapefruit League schedule against the New York Yankees and CC Sabathia at 1:05 p.m. ET Thursday at Bright House Field. Kyle Kendrick, who is competing for a job in the rotation, also will pitch against the Yankees.

Halladay, who was acquired in a December trade with Toronto, is 18-6 with a 2.84 ERA in 37 games (35 starts) in his career against the Yankees.

Phils pitching coach Rich Dubee also announced that left-hander J.A. Happ would start Wednesday's exhibition against Florida State at 7:05 p.m. at Bright House. Dubee said some of the team's younger pitchers in camp also would face the Seminoles.

Left-handers Cole Hamels and Jamie Moyer will pitch Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays at 1:05 p.m. in Dunedin, Fla. Right-hander Joe Blanton will pitch March 6 against the Pittsburgh Pirates at 1:05 p.m. in Bradenton, Fla.

Happ will pitch again March 7 against the Tampa Bay Rays at 1:05 p.m. at Bright House Field.
