Do the Pads get a draft choice for losing him, or did they just turn a piece of gold to a piece of shit?

Let's get Chibob in this thread after my statement. F'ing Hoyer is a jackass and tried playing hard ball with teams at the trade deadline. He wanted too much for Bell, even though he meant nothing to their team being in last place and no way they were catching AZ. He also knew there was slim, very slim chance he would resign with the Padres, so now the Padres have nothing for him and they got him to close about 10 meaningless games post trade deadline. Nice work, enjoy your job with the Cubs! He might be GM but he will just be Theo's puppet!

So, it was Theo who told him not to deal Bell to a divisiom rival..

So, they get nothing for him is what you are saying. Not like what Cubs will receive when Aramis signs elsewhere..a Theo move

Yeah, I remember being shocked that the Pads hasn't traded Bell at the deadline last year. Just seemed kinda stupid for them at the time.

Just another example that shows SD fans know little of baseball rules

Congrats to Jeb. He didn't trade Bell to S F because he didn't want him in the same division. A little move he learned from the Master, Theo

The San Diego Padres have offered salary arbitration to All-Star closer Heath Bell(notes) and right-hander Aaron Harang(notes).New general manager Josh Byrnes says the move was predictable. If the players decline, the Padres will receive compensatory draft picks.Byrnes says it’s unlikely the players will accept arbitration, but the team will prepare for either scenario.

Chibob every Padre knew about them offering salary arbitration you clown. Your a moron if you think the comp picks are better than what they could have received in a trade. Get a clue.

Secondly he will be Theos puppet now, where the f-ck do you make up your statements.

Right, the Giants were offering them the top of the line in their farm system..what a joke. You think they are dumb like Pad fans? Knowing the Pads couldn't afford Bell in 2012, they offered crap. That is why the Pads turned them down as they would rather have the draft choices....cheaper by the dozen LOL

teams are forced to build threw the draft with the new CBA agreement and the Pads will get a top choice or 2 If the GM is any good he will make the move with Bell leaving, pay off. You should go to work for the Pads..they just saved a lot of money, so probably have a few hundred left over for you, cleaning bathrooms etc

They have a new stadium ( a sweetheart deal with taxpayers footing the bill) and it will fill up, so need top players to make sure Jack comes to games

Let's try and remember my question of any compensation You went into a tirade about Jeb, but never answered the question..

Here's a clue

Equals a late first round pick and a second round pick

Given the new CBA agreement, the Padres will receive a compensation pick after the first round and the pick just before Florida’s in the second round of the 2012 amateur players draft. The Padres win here, as some believed Bell would accept arbitration (as he stated he would, if offered) in hopes of staying in San Diego, that would have handcuffed the Padres payroll during a transition year going in to the 2012 season. Bell would have taken up upwards of 20 percent of the payroll
