I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

David Ortiz has done the derby several times and never made it to the finals.. can't see why he would be "probable" to win... the winner is usually who you least expect

ex: bobby abreu, garrett anderson

Some good info i found i love experience here to win,newbies burn themselves out early.

Miguel Cabrera fell three home runs shy of advancing to the final round in his Home Run Derby debut in 2006. This time around, Cabrera -- one of only three non-first-timers -- seems to be the odds-on pick to win it all.

Cabrera is favored -- along with four-time participate David Ortiz -- to win Monday's derby in Anaheim, Calif., according to oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction.

The 27-year-old right-handed hitter is one of eight sluggers swinging for the Angel Stadium fences, which features five first-time contestants. Only Cabrera, Boston's David Ortiz and St. Louis' Matt Holiday have previously participated in the star-studded spectacle.

Cabrera, whose 334 career home runs is most among any contestant, has enlisted Tigers bullpen catcher Scott Pickens as his gopher ball pitcher Monday night.

"Miguel is in the group I throw to on a daily basis," Pickens told The Detroit News. "I'm very comfortable throwing to him -- plus I know what he can do at the plate and the kind of pitches he hits out. They don't have to be strikes.

"There was a ball I threw to him in batting practice this year that was as much a ball as a pitch can be, and it didn't matter. Upper deck, opposite field."

Who will win this year's Home Run Derby?

* Boston's David Ortiz
* Detroit's Miguel Cabrera
* Toronto's Vernon Wells
* New York's Nick Swisher
* St. Louis' Matt Holliday
* Florida's Hanley Ramirez
* Milwaukee's Corey Hart
* Arizona's Chris Young

Of the eight contestants, Cabrera has arguably found the most success at Angel Stadium -- hitting five homers in 69 career at-bats. Boston's David Ortiz is the only contestant to have hit more home runs (7) than Cabrera, but has needed 129 at-bats to do so.

Career Split-Stats at Angel Stadium

David Ortiz: 7 home runs, 123 at-bats, .187 batting average
Miguel Cabrera: 5 home runs, 69 at-bats, .304 batting average
Vernon Wells: 3 home runs, 149 at-bats, .235 batting average
Nick Swisher: 3 home runs, 132 at-bats, .182 batting average
Matt Holiday: 0 home runs, 18 at-bats, .333 batting average
Corey Hart: 0 home runs, 14 at-bats, .357 batting average
Chris Young: Unavailable
Hanley Ramirez: Unavailable

Whats the distances to right,left,right center and left center. Alot of times the lefthanders have a shorter porch than righties. Seems like lefties usually win more often as they have that natural uppercut in their swings.

Another way you could bet American is take Cabrera and Ortiz both plus money and bet 1 unit on cabrera and 1/2 unit on Ortiz.
