since he won a world series and is the only red sox manager to ever win 3 division titles he will most likely get another manager job elsewhere. phillies, mets, and tigers are all a possibility for him right now. or he could end up in broadcasting and return as a manager in the future. jason varitek is a candidate to replace him in boston.

Varitek will not get the job. He wants a guy with manager experience and that isn't Tek. The Red Sox won in spite of Farrell, not because of him. He is the worst game manager I have ever seen. He is awful. I thought Gibbons was horrible but Farrell is worse!

i'm aware farrell wasn't popular with most red sox fans. i was just putting out the positive accomplishments he has going for him.

He has 1 postseason win in the last 4 years, and that is with a 200 million payroll. Put that on his resume too. He is a horrible manager with money and probably worse without.

Dombrowski said in his presser today, "I have already talked to several guys who do not want to manage here under the microscope in Boston"

I think Leyland at 73 or whatever is probably one of them.

Leyland is always itching. He managed in the WBC and I think Boston being built to win now will appeal to him short term. I think he relishes being the hired gun at this point in his career. Leyland commands the respect and definitely knows how to push the right buttons.

Maybe hes done and he means it but last spring he looked like someone who would return in the right situation.

PEACE

whomever they get will get fired within 3-5 years, winning East Division & making playoffs 3/5 years is not easy and is so taken for granted.

regardless who ends up getting the manager for the red sox they will have to address one need to keep up or stay ahead of the nyy imo. and that is getting a 40+ home run hitter. they never replaced the big papi type thay had for some many years. imo their pitching if healthy is as good as anyones and they have a lot of good hitters but they need a home run heavy hitter more than anything right now.

I agree but where do you put him? There are literally 8 spots locked up. The only place you could put him is at 1B unless you trade one of the 8. And I do not think that happens. Bench Moreland and add who?

When you have a 200 million payroll you should expect to make the playoffs every year. If this was Minnesota or Milwaukee I would agree. Not places like Boston, NY or LA though. They have those payrolls for a reason and Farrell fucked it up.

Former Twins manager Ron Gardenhire interviewed for the Red Sox managerial opening on Wednesday.

What? How about Grady Little?
