Jose Bautista

You are the man. Just wanted to share that.

Just wish he hit more RBI and less solo HR. Numbers wouldn't be so Adam Dunn-ish then.

he's the man this year for them for sure. he looks more confident in almost every way. key is, will he be a one-year wonder?

Jose Bautista denied even hearing about internet steroid allegations when talking to the Globe and Mail's Robert MacLeod after Monday's game.

"I haven’t heard it once," claimed Bautista, and credited Cito Gaston and hitting coach Dwayne Murphy for getting him to begin his swing earlier. The adjustment came in the second half last year, when he strung together 12 home runs and began his current power surge. He still doesn't see himself as a power hitter, even if every single one of his home runs this year has been pulled and he's batting a mere .258. Bautista claims he can keep it up, but it's reasonable to expect a slight drop in his power next year. It's rare that a 29-year-old changes this fundamentally

I don't personally think he is taking steroids since everyone of his homers has been pulled and his average is so low. Thats how it was 20 years ago. You either hit for power or average and the best players in the league were able to do both. Good for him.

I hope he can do this again next year, but we have seen these 1 year wonders. As a Jays fan, I hope this is the real deal, as we got him for a bag of balls from the Pirates. I love the way he plays, he has a cannon for an arm & is a leader too.

Well I'm sure he can be a decent home run hitter the following years if he knows he can keep it up with his mechanical adjustment, he may not hit like this year ever again, but if he were to be a 30 home run, 90 RBI guy the rest of his career, the Jays will have a solid veteran to have around the young guys coming up. He would be a great leader on this rebuilding team.

It's pretty said nowadays when you have a guy crushing home runs steroids has to be brought into it, I'm so sick of this sh*t.

agree MCP, a throwback hitter if you will to the old days of Kingman, Dale Murphy etc...but also would mention here that for some guys the skydome(rogers centre) just seems to be a haven for the long ball...not necessarily overall productivity (like Bautista)...but going yard there comes easy. Don't know his splits...but thinking he likes the dome alot considering his year.

thats because with the pirates he was in no way a home run hitter, now all of a sudden he has this power.

Well it wouldn't be the first time a late bloomer has come along. It has been clearly stated he made a significant mechanical change, which in turn has created a swing that let's the ball fly off the bat.

This will be a tough decision for the rookie GM, they are in full rebuilding mode, what kind of a contract would you give him? Should be interesting.
