Mike Hampton retires

I'm sure lots of us thought he already did, but I did see him with the D'Backs this Spring Training, but Hampton say's "it just wasn't there", and that "... he's done". He had one great 22-4 season with a 2.90 era but other than that just some decent campaigns and 5 Silver Slugger awards for his power at the plate. I think most of us will just remember his for his 8 yr/$121 mil contract where he was always hurt it seemed, so I am sure he's got enough money to retire.

wish he would give the Braves back all the $$$ they spent on him while he occupied the 60 day DL for 3+ years

I know the Rockies feel that way too... think he was highest paid player on their team at one point in time.. like 3 years after they traded him..

How funny would it be if someone did that? I've heard of guys signing for less to stay with a team, but giving money back would be one crazy 1st.
