MLB Friday-with "POD"
Toronto at Washington
Wow not sure how the Nationals can be favored over any team let alone a solid team like the Blue Jays. I mean the Nationals just plain suck they're 28 games under .500 and we're not even at the mid point of the season. The Jays on the other hand are actually tied for 2nd in wins in the American league and they're bats are starting to come back to life again, they racked up 23 runs in they're 3 game sweep of the Phillies. I also like the pitching matchup in this one, pitching for the Jays is underrated lefty Brian Tallet he's 4-4 with a 4.87 era and 7 of his last 10 starts were quality starts (going 6 or more inning while allowing 3 or less runs). Starting the Nationals is an overrated Jordan Zimmermann this guy might be good in years to come but he's just 2-3 with a 5.37 era and only has 3 quality starts in his last 10. more: Well the line is acting a little screwey with the Nationals opening up as dogs at +102 and 93% of the public is on the Blue Jays yet the line has gone the opposite way! Now I'm not about to back a Nationals team that can't hit a lick off LHP. .214avg on the season at home and .167avg 2.19 R/9 last 5 games. Nationals are likely fighting for Manny Acta's job as they took 2 of 3 from the Yankees. What this told me was Vegas is expecting a solid performance out of Jordan Zimmerman here today and abounce back performance from Brian Tallet. Tallet came off 3.1IP 8ER against the Marlins. He'll likely have a bounce back here today in my opinion. Earlier in the year he had 4IP 10ER against KC and came back and pitched 7IP 3ER. Two games ago he pitched 6IP and gave up 5ER and came back with a 7IP 0ER performance so he's well capable of the bounce back start. He'll have a good chance of doing this against a Nationals club that has been struggling with the bats even against the Yankees at Yankee stadium they scored 3 games in each game. I see a Bluejay in the horizon **** POD **** Arizona at Seattle Diamondbacks hurler Jon Garland has dropped five consecutive starts, putting up a 6.67 ERA in the process, heading into a road date with Seattle.Washburn is 3-5 with an ERA of 3.30.7.5 runs is reachable here IMO. This one flies "OVER" the top Oakland at San Diego The A’s southpaw starting pitcher Josh Outman (4-1, 3.43 ERA) has made 6 of 7 quality starts this season..The Padres are batting a lowly .209 at home this season and , 1-5 in inter-league play in 2009, including a lowly long-term 4-20 against record vs AL sides. Wade LeBlanc a sub par Triple play option at Portland that in a previous stint with the Padres last year went 1-3 along with a bloated 8.02 ERA in five games. In Portland this season he was 1-4 along with a 4.08 ERA. Athletics are 5-0 in their last 5 inter-league road games vs. a team with a losing record. Padres are 0-6 in their last 6 during game 1 of a series and have lost 4 straight vs a LH starter like Outman……. Oakland is 6-3 SU in its last 9 games when playing San Diego San Diego is 3-6 SU in its last 9 games when playing Oakland San Diego is 3-7 SU in its last 10 games at home San Diego is 1-5 SU in its last 6 games I give Oakland an "A" in this contest
