MLB Trade Rumors

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Tigers are "being aggressive right now in asking about pitching" and are "checking on high-end guys, not just the third-tier guys."

FOX Sports' Tracy Ringolsby noted that Tigers scouts were in attendance for the Brewers/Rockies game Thursday when Ubaldo Jimenez was on the mound. Jimenez might be a far-fetched target for the Tigers, as the Rockies seem unlikely to deal him, but there's no denying the fact that Detroit really wants a starter. They've been linked prominently to Hiroki Kuroda, but it sounds like they might set their sights a little higher.

Derek Lowe - S - Braves

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that although the Braves aren't actively shopping Derek Lowe, they're "willing to listen.''

Lowe has had a so-so year for the Braves, and the team feels as if Mike Minor and Julio Teheran could ably replace him in the rotation. Though Lowe's durability is valuable, he's not a very attractive trade piece with the remainder of his $15 salary for this season, as well as another $15 million owed to him next year. The Braves would have to eat a sizable chunk of his contract and wouldn't receive much in return.

K-Rod has been moved....Who is next for the Mets?

Hope the Tigers make a move for somebody that will not just be a few month rental. They need some fresh faces on the club.

I'm really hoping Tigers land Kuroda....think he is a great fit for our park and would slot perfect behind Verlander and Sherzer.

Brandon League - R - Mariners

FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi reports that the Mariners are taking calls on reliever Brandon League.

League is having a fine year but is due to cash in over the offseason in his final year of arbitration after making his first All-Star squad. With David Aardsma due back next year or possibly even late this year, the M's don't want to give too much to a likely setup man.

Heath Bell - R - Padres

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Phillies are considered the front-runners to land Heath Bell.

Olney also adds that the Phils have interest in the Padres' Mike Adams and Chad Qualls, as well. They would probably prefer to have Bell and move Ryan Madson back to a setup role, but if the price for Bell is too steep, they'll keep Madson in the ninth inning and target Adams or Qualls for setup work. Bell is almost certain to be dealt somewhere, with the Cardinals, Angels, Yankees and Rangers also in the mix.

Hiroki Kuroda - S - Dodgers

According to MLB Network's Peter Gammons, the feeling amongst some front offices is that Hiroki Kuroda would prefer not to be traded to the East Coast.

That's important in this case since Kuroda has a full no-trade clause. The Yankees, Red Sox and Pirates are among some of the eastern teams that could be interested in the Dodgers righty, who has a 3.06 ERA and 1.22 WHIP through his first 114 2/3 innings this season.

Kevin Slowey - R - Twins

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Pirates and Rockies are among the teams interested in Kevin Slowey.

According to Morosi, the Twins are willing to trade him to a club that would use him as a starter as long as they get fair value in return. The 27-year-old right-hander is earning $2.7 million this season and remains under team control through 2013. He is currently rehabbing an abdominal strain with Triple-A Rochester.

Ricky Nolasco - S - Marlins

MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports that the Marlins have "little interest" in trading Ricky Nolasco or Anibal Sanchez.

Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria still thinks his team can go on a run and make a playoff push, but that's not the reason Nolasco and Sanchez are likely to stay put. Loria wants the Fish to be contenders in 2012 when they move into their new stadium, and he views the two right-handers as integral pieces to the puzzle
.

If they weren't building a new stadium everyone would probably be sent packing.

Ubaldo Jimenez - S - Rockies

Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd has denied a New York Post report that the team might be willing to trade Ubaldo Jimenez because the righty had a poor attitude.

The Post report said Jimenez has pouted over the fact that Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez have received extensions and he hasn't, but O'Dowd strongly disputed the notion. "I don't know where that's coming from. That's not even close to the truth," O'Dowd said. "He's as fine as a kid you will come across in this game." The Rockies might field calls on Jimenez, but the righty is signed relatively cheaply for the next three years, so dealing him seems very unlikely.

Michael Cuddyer - OF - Twins

The Twins will not trade Michael Cuddyer before the deadline and plan to try to re-sign him over the offseason.

"I have no say or no control over [trades], so I feel like I've done a pretty good job of just being able to focus and go out and play," Cuddyer said. "Especially now that we're getting back into this thing, I'd like to think we're going to go after it." Cuddyer is batting .292 with 13 homers and 43 RBI this season and had been drawing interest from the Braves, Phillies and Giants, but it appears he'll be staying put.

Carlos Beltran - OF - Mets

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Mets are "insisting on a top prospect" for Carlos Beltran.

Beltran is due the remainder of an $18.5 million salary for this season, but the Mets have quite a bit of leverage since he's the clear top bat available via trade, so it's no surprise that they're asking for a lot. The Red Sox and Giants are two teams that have a lot of interest, but they're not alone.
