Hochevar very inconsistent. Vargas a victim of being on the mariners. The ROYALS move to Seattle after taking 2 of 3 from Oakland. Mariners Win.

during Friday night's contest against Oakland. Vargas, who was making his 28th start of the season, allowed six runs, (five earned) on six hits over five innings in the 9-2 victory. Most of the damage the left-hander allowed came in the fourth inning, including a three-run double off the bat of Hideki Matsui. Vargas was pulled after throwing 115 pitches and finished with four walks and four strikeouts while falling to 7-13 on the season.

Fantasy Analysis



Vargas has not been pitching very well of late and Friday was no exception. The left-hander has allowed a grand total of 22 earned runs over his last four starts and is not surprisingly 0-4 over that stretch. He will look to turn things around when he makes his next start, which is scheduled for Thursday against the Royals. Vargas has yet to face Kansas City this season, but will do so at home, where he is 5-9 with a 5.24 ERA on the year. Only owners in deeper mixed and AL-only formats should be rolling with Vargas t this point in the season.
