My first posted MLB play this year

Decided to officially start my CM MLB pick today. here's hoping to starting off the season on the right foot.

For today, I really like the Tigers -118 (betjam) visiting Oaktown. The Tigers, winners of their last 4, are sending Verlander to the road. I've always been a fan of laying money on a team once they hit a 4 game win streak (and conversely playing against a team with at least a 4 game losing streak) and this is what we have today. The A's can't seem to hit the broad sign of a barn so far this year and are only 1-4 at home this season. Although Verlander's past early season's struggles are well known he seems to be much better this year and has picthed well at McAfree stadium in the past 3 years with an ERA of 3.00 and a WHIP that's sub 1.00 in 22 innings pitched. Oakland hitters have hit .264 off and only Coco Crisp (.400) and Kevin Kouzmanoff (.333) have hit over .300 against him. For the year the A's are hitting .236 which ranks 21st in MLB this year. In the last 7 days they're batting even lowevrthen that with a .231 average. And guess what, in nightgames this year they're even hitting worse with a .225 avg. A's are also 3-6 this year vs. righthanded starters. In the field the A's defense has been terrible committing 7 errors in their 4 games and have been atrocious this tear. For the year they're 2-7 in night games.

For the Tigers they have hit Dallas Braden well with a team average of .304. They've done well against Braden as Braden is 2-4 with a 6.75 ERA in Braden's 8 career starts against the Tigers. Tigers are .500 this year so far against LHP with a 2-2 mark. Because of the outstanding starts in the last 2 games (Coke and Porcello) the Tigers bullpen is in good shape and are rested and available. Tiger pitchers have not allowed a HR in their last 8 games and I don't see that changing at McAfee tonight. The only thing I'm concerned about is the Tigers run support when Verlander pitches but tonight I'll think they'll be fine.

I think there's really good value with the Tigers at -118. All the key things I look for are present in this game so I'm going with a larger then normal wager in this one playing the Tigers for 3 units (1 unit=$100).

Good Luck everyone!

On the same side. Was real close to taking it in the ESPN Streak contest, too, but my trigger finger was scared.

GL!

Just saw the line up for the game. Leyland has all the hitters that have had success against Braden. Decided not to upgrade but only because this is my first play of the season.
