Nats get Gonzalez, give up four top prospects
Nationals acquired LHP Gio Gonzalez and RHP Robert Gilliam from the Athletics for LHP Tommy Milone, RHP Brad Peacock, C Derek Norris and RHP A.J. Cole.
Gonzalez has been a solid fantasy starter in each of the last two seasons, averaging a 3.17 ERA and 184 strikeouts per year since the start of 2010. He has some control issues and the Nationals heavily overpaid for him in giving up four top-end prospects, but the 26-year-old lefty should help his new club compete in the National League East rather soon. Along with fellow rotation mates Stephen Strasburg and Jordan Zimmermann, he's under team control through at least 2015.

2 Things.
Broda still thinks Gio is trash. Noles still thinks that Zach Duke is good.

Nats gave up quite a bit to get Gonzalez but he will definitely help them. My BlueJays were rumored to be interested in him as well and I was praying that they wouldn't get him because I thought he would be a horrible fit with my Jays. Take a look at his overall numbers and he was a much better pitcher in a pitcher friendly ballpark like Oakland compared to when he got on the road and playing in the AL East with 4 bandboxes as ballparks with Yankee Stadium, Camden Yards, Fenway and the Skydome(Rogers Center) I think he would of seen his numbers go up dramatically. However, playing in the NL East for the majority of his games, a pretty good pitchers park for his home games and stadiums like Atlanta and NewYork(who knows what type of park Florida will be) I think will benefit Gio quite a bit and really help solidify the Nats starting rotation.

Can't say the Nats aren't trying. That NL East is getting pretty interesting...
