Nelson Cruz

Who honestly saw this coming? Four years ago he is the "player to be named" in the Carlos Lee trade, struggles out of the gate, then is the Triple A player of the year two years ago, damm near wins the homerun derby last year and is an all star, and now is turning into one of the most feared hitters in the game. Monster in the making!!

Hus I have to agree, funny to sneak holliday in there with the likes of pujols, howard, and braun......by the way tcd, cruz hit 30 bombs and was an allstar last year, he's not a heyward at this point that has to "prove himself"........i am sure there are plenty of folks besides me that would rather have cruz over holliday......younger, more power, and more speed at this point in their careers....holliday maybe slight edge in avg. over the long haul....what was holliday doing in oakland before he got to hit behind Pujols?

Never saw this thread, glad I did now, because its absurd, and I dont care how old it is, something must be said. How can you take Cruz over Holliday? Younger? Yeah by 6 months, not a deciding factor, and on top of that Cruz is from the Domincan so he is probably atleast 33. Hitting behind Pujols? Do you forget what he did in Colorado? Guy was a monster. Oakland? He only played 90 games and was banged up. And Cruz isnt batting behind scrubs, in fact right now he is hitting behind 2 of the hottest hitters in baseball one of which is Hamilton who is a top 5 hitter in baseball. So all that rationale is erroneous, on to the stats:

Holliday average season (based on 162 games) : 30 hr 111 rbi .317 ba 195 hits15 steals 108 runs .387 obp

Cruz average season: 30 hr 93 rbi .265 ba 145 hits 15 steals 78 runs .330 obp

How can you say Cruz? Holliday much better numbers and only 6 months older (that we know of). This isnt even close, I cant believe peopel let you get away with saying something so ridiculous. All that being said tho, well timed bump BE. And although he is no Holliday, Cruz is still a stud.

both very good players....holliday probably better all around player

that said...rangers are focused on dominating major league baseball right now and as an organization we have made the decision and will choose to longer get involved in silly pointless head to head comparisons against players we do not care about....especially players not even in american league
