New rule brought in for '10 fools Marlins Ricky Nolasco

He has charged with an automatic ball last night vs the Mets.
The new rule was put in place regarding pitchers being able to go to their mouths. The official playing rules committee determined pitchers are allowed to go to their mouth on the mound, but not while they are touching the rubber. Previously, pitchers were only allowed to touch their fingers to their lips and mouths off the mound, provided they wipe their hand before gripping the ball.

Nolasco noted that the rule was never fully explained.

"Apparently, you can't be on the rubber now when you go to your mouth," Nolasco said. "They make a new rule, yet nobody explains it to us 100 percent. They say, 'You can lick, but you just have to wipe [your uniform].' But they fail to mention, 'You can't be on the rubber, either.' It's like learning as you go. It shouldn't be like that."

Putting the balme on others, think he should take it abit on the chin himself, this is his fulltime and well paid job. It should also be his job to keep up with the rule changes.

No, I actually agree with him here.

they seem to constantly change this rule, and i read it myself, its not fully explained in the definition.

hell i still don't really understand it.

they need to just pick what they want the rule to be and fully explain to us and the players what they want the rule to be - and then just STICK with it

i agree, 100%...could be a costly call when the count is 3-2 bottom of the 9th bases fully loaded and lose the game on a stupid automatic ball

Ok sounds fair enough, wasn't aware that its not fully explained in its defintion. Now I think about it, alot of rule amendments in alot of sports can be difficult to completely understand and are open to interpretation.

I always thought that a pitcher can`t put his fingers on his mouth at any time while his foot is on or touching the rubber. He can only go to his lips on the mound while his foot is off the rubber. Unless I`m missing something here.
