Nomar retires

good thing because he's been a non factor for last 10 years - lol

Longtime Boston shortstop Nomar Garciaparra will announce his retirement from baseball on Wednesday morning, signing a one-day contract with the Red Sox in order to retire as a member of the team.

Upon his retirement, Garciaparra will join ESPN as a baseball analyst. He will be seen primarily on Baseball Tonight but will also serve as an occasional game analyst.

One of the greatest pure talents in my lifetime in any sport, even if his career may have not lived up to it. Badly effected by Injury.

Agreed. Kid was all sorts of good that just couldn't stay healthy. It's too bad, really. When Boston won, I kinda wished he was still there to get a ring.

Ah well. At least he got to play in the show. Guy lived the dream.
