He has endured the same bad fortune in six outings since the All-Star break, going 1-2 with a 3.60 ERA with the Diamondbacks losing five of those games.

The Snakes have have gone a disappointing 3-13 in Jon Garlands last 16 starts and 1-6 in Garlands last seven starts against a team with a winning record and 1-8 in Garland’s last nine road starts.


As for the Snakes as a whole,Arizona has lost two straight after winning four of five, has dropped a season-high four in a row on the road.

On the mound for the Phils is Martinez (1-0, 5.40 ERA).Martinez earned the win in Wednesday's 12-5 victory over the Chicago Cubs, allowing three runs and seven hits with five strikeouts in five innings. The 37-year-old right-hander threw 99 pitches with several clocked in the low 90s.
This will be Martinez's first start against the Diamondbacks (54-65) since allowing one run and five hits in five innings of a 15-2 victory for the Mets on June 11, 2006. He is 3-0 with a 0.67 ERA in his last four starts versus Arizona.

As for the Phils,they have gone a spotless 5-0 in their last five home games against a team with a losing record and a blistering 7-1 in their last eight games versus a team with a losing record. The Phillies have also pounded right-handers recently, going 5-1 in their last six games against a right-handed starter.Philadelphia has gone an impressive 22-9 in their last 31 games as a favorite.The Phillies, who took two of three in Arizona from July 27-29, are coming off a 5-1 road trip to move 4 1/2 games ahead of second-place Florida.
I know that Pedro is not his old self,but hope he's on the right path.

Good Luck on the Phillies Tonight. Have to love the fact that Arizona has been traveling all over the last 36 hours too. This would probably be a good over without looking at the numbers since it is hot here and the ball flies even more in weather like this and Howard now seems in a zone.
