I guess I missed that.
I am still surprised.
The Sox won 16 more games than the Dodgers in a tougher league.
Also not that it means that much, but their interleague record was better than the Dodgers at 16-4 as opposed to 12-8.
Imo the big reason the line is what it is I because LA took Houston to the full seven games last year.
On the other hand to coin the old cliché, that's why they play the games.
ps What do YOU think the line should be all things considered?

None of that matters savage. I think the line is about where it should be. Both teams are loaded with talent

Of course anything can happen in a short series, and the Dodgers did finish the season very strong.
Still though all things considered, I still can't forget how the Sox easily dismantled some of those NL teams like Atlanta and especially that three game sweep in Atlanta and that last game with that amazing 9-8 comeback win.
The Sox have proven over and over again over the years that they are better than the NL teams-just look at their outstanding interleague records
Perhaps the Dodgers will present more of a challenge-they will have to prove it to me though!

I know that there will probably be a separate thread for this but my prediction is Sox in Sox just like 2013 although it wouldn't surprise me that much if it went 7 or for that matter 4 or 5 games.
I will be a bit surprised if LA wins.

red sox have been the best team all year dodgers got off to a bad start but got better as the season went on. kershaw was injured earlier in the season but once he got healthy dodgers turned it around. this should be a great series i lean to the red sox but it will depend on how well they do against kershaw.

It will also depend on how healthy and effective Sale is.

Will it though? They lost his only start against Houston and won the next 4. This series comes down to a lot more than sale and Kershaw imo. It will be a team effort just like it was in the ALCS & NLCS

This is true, and obviously if folks like Bradley and the tail end of the lineup can contribute like they did in the Houston series and/or players at the top of the lineup get going a bit more than they did in previous series as well as decent pitching overall, it will help the Sox cause a lot.
I can't comment that much on LA as I don't and haven't followed them day to day in regular season as I have the Sox, although I did watch a good portion of their playoff games.
I stick with my prediction though for reasons stated.

Me asleep???
Yeah right!!! lol
The average time I go to sleep is around 1:15 to 1:30 AM Eastern time, and sometimes later if there is a good competitive game in some sport going on tv(whether I have a bet on game or not) or some interesting non sporting event.
I have watched portions of the Dodgers games this season especially when I had bet on or against them.
This is pretty much the same as it is with all NL teams except of course when they played the Sox and for the most part got dismantled when all was said and done.
I don't watch NL games as a general rule because imo for the most part the players and teams are boring.
Also I never said LA didn't have a "pretty good team."
If they can defeat the Sox, more power to them.
If I was a neutral bettor with no allegiance to neither the Sox nor the Dodgers, for me based on the series line, the value would be with the Sox rather than with the Dodgers for reasons stated.
In all honesty as has been the case 99.9% of the time when it comes to Sox games, I don't bet on or against them but on occasion will place a wager on the total-I will not be betting any games in this series obviously.
If the Sox should lose this series, naturally I will be disappointed.
However I will still consider it a highly successful season as they defeated both the Yankees and Astros first, both of whom I consider better than the Dodgers or for that matter any NL team.

The line has moved from -129 to -143 on Sox.
I wouldn't be surprised if it is -150 by Tuesday night.
ps I don't use locals but I would bet that some local betting establishments in Massachusetts have the line at least at -160 or even -165 or so.

At least at Bookmaker, it looks like the linemakers have finally come to their senses and/or the bettors have humped on the opening line I posted and bet the Sox as the current line is now -157, right around the -160 I suggested when the opening line at -129.
With the current line, I can understand some folks betting the Dodgers because imo the line is now where it should have opened at in the first place, thus offering some value to those who think the Dodgers can win this thing.

He has been shaky for sure, but 1) the week of rest may help him and 2) the unfamiliarity with him other than Manny Machado may prove to be to his advantage.
In all fairness the same could be said about all of the pitchers and hitters on both sides.

Agree. When the Dodgers left Kenley Jansen and their two innings he looked really bad. I have a feeling there are going to be some manager blunders

Not that Dave Cokin is any kind of prognosticating guru, but in this case I happen to agree with his succinct appraisal of this series, and no it is not because I am a homer.
In my Sox conversation thread, I clearly stated that I thought the Sox would lose to first the Yankees and then to Houston.
Anyways here is what Cokin has to say:

A quick take on the upcoming World Series for today’s free play.

DODGERS vs. RED SOX

Take: RED SOX -140

Short snd sweet. The Boston Red Sox have been baseball’s best team the entire season. They won 108 regular season games and likely could have gotten close to 115 had they not done the start thing and gotten some key players rest down the stretch.

The Red Sox have also been the best team in baseball in the postseason to date. Boston has lost only two games and they basically have everything working at this point. About the only shaky component has been closer Craig Kimbrel. Aside from Kimbrel’s struggles, this machine is all systems go.

The Dodgers road to the World Series has been considerably more challenging. They’ve done what they’ve had to do to advance but it’s been more survival than domination.

Better team, home field advantage, even more time to rest up and get prepped for the Fall Classic. Check marks are all on the Red Sox side and I expect them to knock off the Dodgers in less than the maximum number of games. I’ll call it Red Sox in six, though I would not be shocked if it’s even shorter than that.

If anyone thinks the Dodgers can come back and win the WS, they will be handsomely rewarded at almost 5-1 if they wager at these odds and the Dodgers prevail:

10/26
20:05
Los Angeles Dodgers
Boston Red Sox
+481
-580
