Oswalt hit in head by Manny line-drive

Phillies season over already ...

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (AP)—Philadelphia pitcher Roy Oswalt has been hit behind the right ear by a line drive off the bat of Manny Ramirez and has been taken for X-rays.

The Phillies say Oswalt had a neck bruise but did not lose consciousness. The team says he was not dizzy before leaving Wednesday’s game against Tampa Bay.

Oswalt fell to the ground and remained there until a trainer reached the mound to examine him. The right-hander stood up and after a brief discussion walked to the visiting clubhouse on his own.

Evan Longoria homered leading off the fourth against Oswalt. Ramirez, who had a RBI double in the first, was the next batter.

Oswalt, making his fourth spring training appearance, struck out four while allowing three runs and four hits.

Poor Bob 102 years and still grumpy as ever. yep Phillie fans are the worst and to be the worst means u actually have to support ur team unlike urself bandwagon Bob. Think its great that u r happy that a guy caught a line drive in the head. Boberino taking this Liz Taylor death kind of hard sure u had pics of here back in the 40s when u were a spry 20year old

I don't understand why the pitchers in baseball aren't better protected. In recent years, it is becoming more & more frequent of the pitcher getting drilled. Why not have them wear a helmet? Or even if it looks silly, a hockey style helmet with the bird cage?

I think it will make things alot safer & also prevent serious injuries. If they don't, one of these days, someone will be killed by those line drives back to the mound.

u need to start watching baseball bt the guy was unreal for philly. lost 1 game after the trade and that was the first game he pitched. Now whether he is the man this year remains to be seen I would rather have hamels in the 3 spot but thats just me

I'm sure I'm wrong, I just didn't think he was great in the playoffs, but I would love to have him on any team I like that's for sure.
