Pujols

The Pujols situation could get interesting if the Cardinals can't get him signed before the season starts and he does elect to test the free agent market. What do you think he would get for a contract?

What makes this so interesting to me is that the Yankees and Red Sox appear to be set at the 1b position and would most likely be the ones to help drive the price up even higher.

He'd end up in New York as a Met or in LA as a Dodger.

"No matter what happens in the last days of negotiations before Pujols arrives at the Cardinals' camp in spring training, the slugger will not be traded".

The understanding within the St. Louis front office is that Pujols will not accept any trade going forward, according to sources. He has the right to veto any trade proposal, and would do so.

This means there are only two possible results in the negotiations in the Pujols talks: Either he signs a contract extension with the Cardinals, or he will become a free agent this coming fall.

Pujols and the Cardinals are negotiating under the player's deadline of Feb. 19, the first day he arrives in training camp. After he begins spring training, Pujols does not want his agent, Dan Lozano, to discuss a contract with the Cardinals because he doesn't want to have any distractions, a stance he has taken throughout his career.

I don't see him in LA. Team is operating on a shoestring until the divorce is settled. Mets, perhaps, but I think he'll stay a Cardinal, making something around 27-28M a year for an eight or nine year contract. The biggest question is how many years is the contract, and whether or not there will be some kind of buyout or option years, since the end of a long-term contract will be including Pujols' decline years. There's a great risk of paying Pujols top dollar when he's 37 or 38 and not what he is now.

Pujols wouldn't want to play for the Jays. When was the last time any Toronto team had a big name player?

Halliday (baseball) - but other than that there hasn't been any big star athletes in Toronto. Hockey, baseball, basketball. Could be that nobody wants to reloxate to canada. Who would blame them?

The Mets should pay 30mill/yr for him. He'd give them instant playoff contention. Sell tickets, get the fans back into seats and have belief again. Its the right time too. All the bad contracts will be coming off the books too, and we'll have money to spend.

Albert's time frame has either passed, or is about to.

Here is the big question..who signs him

A MLB GM says Cubs will make a very serious run at him.

^ hope not, his career would be over

pretty sure pujols will want to go to a winner with his next contract, there will be teams who pay him what they want that can win unlike cubs
