Rangers sign Vlad

1 year 5 million. Can still rake, should have a good season in that ballpark, hopefully he gets in 120 games

http://rangersblog.dallasnews.com/ar...-guerrero.html

Quote:
According to two sources, the Rangers have agreed to terms with outfielder/DH Vladimir Guerrero on a one-year contract believed to be worth $5 million plus performance bonuses. General manager Jon Daniels has not responded to requests for confirmation.
Guerrero, who turns 35 in February, was limited to 100 games last year by injuries after playing 143 in 2008. Guerrero would be used as the team’s primary DH, with David Murphy moving once-again into a part-time role.

Agree 100%, a three legged race. Mariners, Rangers and Angels all in it.

Vlad is an average player at best in this part of his career. Those knees are worn out.

Have great hitting on the Rangers, but that staff needs help.

no doubt rev.......hopefully the young guns are ready to go after a year in the bigs and Harden stays healthy

Feldman and Harden (if he stays healthy) will be solid and Hunter, Holland, McCarthy, Hurley, etc. will battle for the other spots......hoped we could sign one more starter besides Harden but oh well

bullpen is stacked with Wilson, Feliz, Franscisco, Oliver (FA signing), Oday, Nippert leading the way

GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!

That is a pretty dirty 2-6 right there, but this teams issue is not offense, they would have been fine with Murphy. Should have used that 5 mil to get another pitcher for when their rotation blows up

the argument to get another pitcher instead of signing Vlad carries some weight, although I don't see the Rangers being able to sign a frontline pitcher for 5 mil....

the presence of Vlad in the middle of that lineup and his ability to hit any freaking pitch and put the ball in play is gonna be huge....
