Bet Jam now has Philly at +850 to win WS. +350 to win the NL. Roy obviously still a difference maker. Cut both lines almost in half.

Would rather have seen phils get a closer. Oswalt reminds me of jAKE Peavy with the Sox now. Both on the tail end of careers. Fast balls were best pitch and do not have same velocity now. When you really look at it,injuries and lack of hitting have been their problem. When you look back how often can you say I'm glad we got that 3rd starter or we would not of won the series.
As a Phils fan I hope it helps and they can afford him but if they don't hit the ball it won't matter. Look at Halliday's record,he pitches 9 innings allthe time and has a low era but if you don't score you can't win!!!

Well Oswalt is a #3 for the Phils, Peavy was their #1.

One is in the AL, one isn't it

There are no closers that are really available besides Qualls who is worse. Teams are demanding too much for relievers.

I don't know how Oswalt is declining he has like a 3.30 ERA, and I'll say it again, he's our #3 !!!!

Oswalt was still throwing 93-95 and they have been hitting again. This is a no brainer

Wow they dont have have to pick the ioption in 2012 this is basically a 1.5 year deal. Absolutely no risk as stros are basically paying oswalts 2011 salary sending 11mm to the phils and all phils have to do is add 1 mil to the buyout in 2012. Wow

Definatly a no brainer. Phils have all kind of money.Alot more confidence in Oswalt than Kendrick anyone else in their rotation.
All i'm saying is when you get in the series or divisional playoffs, other teams pitchers are just as good and they can hit also so its the little thing that make the difference and I think the most important is the bullpen. Look what Lidge did the year they won the series,he didn;t blow any saves that year at all.
Starting pitchers are very important but they all have their highs and lows. Look at Jimenez for the Rockies. Halliday is only12-8. Every one gets all excited about 1 pitcher but the phils better get healthy first and catch the Braves. There are alot more pieces to the puzzle than one pitcher!!!

Kendrick pitches gem and crappy bullpen gives up tying run. Case in point. No bullpen no title. Hope Oswalt can throw all 9 innings like Halliday!!!
