Rich Harden is a Twin

ESPNChicago sources confirmed reports that the Minnesota Twins were awarded a waiver claim on Chicago Cubs right-handed pitcher Rich Harden, and that the San Francisco Giants are the team that was awarded a claim on right-hander Aaron Heilman.

In both cases, the teams have until noon on Monday to agree to a deal. The Cubs can also let the players go for the waiver price of $20,000 or pull either player back from waivers.

Players reclaimed by the team that put them on waivers are not eligible to be put back on waivers for 30 days, rendering them essentially untradeable with just over a month left in the season.

Harden is 8-7 with a 3.99 ERA this season in 22 starts for the Cubs. Heilman is 2-3 with a 4.55 ERA in 57 relief appearances entering Friday's game against the New York Mets

Great pick-up for the Twins.

Harden to twins is Hendry getting even for Kenny ****ing with Peavy

They been working on this for a bit. Cubs will get someone good and can still go after Harden as he will be free agent. If the deal is done before Sept 1st, Harden will be on the playoff roster if Twins win it, and with him, I think they do.

Nice. The Twins better find a way to pull this off. Will give a team getting hot with weak schedule a little more fire power.

It really is. The Twins are my second favorite team and it will interesting if the pitching staff can get it done. I always liked Harden when he was with the A's. When this guy is on, he is unhittable.

yes he is great and i think is much better vs the al,also LAA will be tough especially if kazmir pitches like he is capable of but i believe the yankees are the team to beat. Also if the rangers could have added an arm they would be a serious contender-but still watch out for them!!Whoever is hot at the right time wins it!!

Great pick-up for the Twins.
Have the Twins officially made a deal? Just because someone got claimed it doesnt mean they are or will get traded.....these are revokable waivers.

Here is what I could dig up and no deal seems done......According to ESPN Chicago, the Twins have entered a waiver claim for Cubs right-hander Rich Harden.

The Twins have until Monday at 1 p.m. EST to spin a trade, but a deal seems highly unlikely. The Cubs are going to demand a major package of prospects and Minnesota management tends to covet its talented youngsters. Harden is 8-7 this season with a 3.99 ERA in 22 starts for the Cubs.

PEACE
