As a Cubs fan, I grew up listening to Ronnie on the radio. Listening to games this year just wont be the same. Its a shame hes not in the Hall of Fame or got to see a Cubs World Series. If anyone hasn't seen This Old Cub, a documentary about Santo's life and his battles with diabetes, they should see it. Really a great film.

RIP Ron Santo

I never knew. So many here made chit of him, but knew him ONLY as a color guy and didn't understand him, or what he was all about. Many funny stories about him this AM on the SCOR, particularly from Mc Donough. Put 300 kids in a line, after a Cub game, and if they were seeking his autograph, he would sign for every one of them.

He will be missed

should make WCI happy

his enthusiasm was second to none. cubs could be down 10 runs in the 9th inning and he still hung on every pitch. i honestly dont know how he did it, but he really believed in the cubs.

same IMO he missed the hall, though some might disagree. and what rev said is 100% true the guy has literally been fighting through hell his whole life and he didn't turn out half bad.

for those who haven't seen "this old cub" it's definitely worth watching.

very sad day for cubs baseball and santo is a guy who should have a statue in front of wrigley before harray caray, JMO i guess.

RIP ronnie

favorite color guy ever. I used to mute the TV and turn on the radio when watching games. Definitely will miss the Pat and Ron shows

As a player he was a jag. Ripped teammates when they screwed up, but that was probably just due to him wanting to win so bad. Radio broadcasts with him were brutal the last few years. He did seem to be a nice guy who helped out many in his later years.

He should be in the Hall, maybe now he will get his due. Definitley a better ballplayer than Brooks Robinson, numbers don't lie.

RIP Ronny
