((((( Rookieees 25*** Interleague Game Of The Year And 2 Superplays )))))

Well what can I say about last nights philly game... not a damn thing other than philly is starting to look like the cubbies earlier this month..... but im not going to let that one game get into me, although it pisses me off when u handicap a game long and hard and it goes against everything you thought... I despise putting out a big play and it fizzles not just for my pocket but for those that follow.... overall we are up for the season and thats what matters to me ,but I know that some peeps lean on others for that extra push and for what it is worth, I do apologize if I caused havoc in any way or form.....

ok enough of the blah blah blah ... time to get down to business !!!

today is a big card for me as I have my interleague game of the year and two big superplays all on one card....in fact they are all big plays today.... if there was a day to follow or look into my plays , then today is that day.... I have spent most of the night and early morning handicapping these games to the fullest of my abilities and believe firmly that we will have all smiles come the end of the day.....here are the write ups for all three games in what I see as a big day for the rook and to those others that tag along.....

ARIZONA D-BACKS VS. SEATTLE MARINERS

my interleague game of the year isnt going to be one of those blowout games ...instead we will be looking to cash this one by the 7th inning as that will be about the time arizona will be pulling away from these mariners...

now ive been scoping these mariners for about a week now...in fact I got lucky with them last night as pinch hitter k.griffey ( batting .203) 2 out 2run blast helped the cause.... but this team has been riding its pitching and its bullpen for most of the year.... they have won 13 out of 22 series this year including a 7-3 mark at home...only the giants have a better series win/loss record at home with a 9-2 mark......they start jason vargas today whom imo has had a career year with a 3.56 era this season..... lifetime he has a 5.24 era and all his minor work he holds a career 4.13 era.... so yes he has outdid himself this season.... in fact the tail spin has already started as in his last two starts were very poor outings.... his ground ball/fly ball ratio just completely turned around as combined in those 2 starts he went 12 / 29 which shows me he is throwing the ball up in the strike zone..... im expecting the bad form to continue despite his 1.89 era at home this year in 20 innings of work as lefties are just crushing him this season batting .349 with an ops of .982 while the right side is .262/ .678.... not to mention his horrible offense......

the mariners are batting just .210 over their last 7 games...... grant it it the offense was on the road but as a team they rank dead last in all of baseball with an offense that produces only 3.73 runs per a game....the problem I noticed with these mariners is that they cant get everyone on the same page..... when ichiro is hot someelse tails and he is getting stuck on the bases..... over the last 7 ichiro is batting just .259 ....adrian beltre has sputtered going 4-21 which includes his 2 hits last night, this after raising his average 38 points in the 1st 2 weeks in june.....whats even more frustrating is that there is no run support for vargas as they average for 27 outs just 2.25 runs in his starts....

now the d-backs have hit the injury bug all seeason so there hasnt been much chemistry yet I find them a little more hungry in this series after their series win over kansas city, which was only their 5th series win this season....even more so after last nights game that slipped away with king felix set for tomorrow....they are averaging 5 runs a game over the month of june (84 runs in 17 games) and 5.7 over their last 7.....against lefties this year their last nights lineup bat .274 ....

arizona starts billy buckner a reliever turned starter again .... he is another pitcher like vargas that is taking up space ..... he too has lefties rocking him at a .360 ave and 1.168 ops .....but I sense he is comfortable in this situation as he pitches like day and night when he is on the road...he holds a career starter record of 3-1 on the road with a 4.07 era.....

fianl thought: the mariners and d-backs are both having problems with errors this season and even though seattle hits better at home I think they will continue to have problems scoring till they all can get on the same page hitting together..... same can be said with the d-backs but the difference to me is that arizona as a team is ranked 3rd in quality starts and seattle has done well due to their bullpen.... with 2 not so great pitchers I will side with arizonas pitching and their offense as they are +12 in rpg/ +8 in ops/ +6 in hrs and +8 in sb's in mlb ranking.... this will be another low scoring game and despite the umpire teddy barrett favorable to home teams this year, arizona has more to prove in this one and this series..... stats are skeptical but arizona needs this one and will pull this one out

25*** INTERLEAGUE GAME OF THE YEAR

ARIZONA D-BACKS (+117)

TEXAS VS. SAN FRANCISCO

the hard luck pitcher san franciscans know as matt cain is really putting it up this year.... and it all starts with the run support...for years matt cain would always have no support but this year he is getting 5.83 rpg..... the giants are 9-2 in home series this year so a win would make it 10 today not to mention that it would also make matt a 10 game winner....the giants are 10-3 in all his starts so why not roll with the number 10 as this will be my 10*** play

I will be at this game tonight and I like the under in this game as I think there will be a challenge from both pitchers today...matt cain with his great season start hasnt really faced top compittion as his past 8 wins have come against oak/ari/wash/stl (during their hitting slump)/ mets/sea/wash/and col.... not to take anything away as a fan this is great to see him win...as a bettor I look at it as a confidence builder yet still soft wins..... imo matt knows this too so I think he will be trying to make a statement here against a decent hitting offense.....matt carries a .205 batting ave against for the month of june and .243 at home

same can be said for his counterpart derek holland..... in his 4 starts they have come against the yanks twice, boston, and the angels..... teams are hitting him like batting practice .368 as he bounces back and forth from reliever to starter..... but he will have a big park to use to his advantage and although the giants starters are crushing lefties this season he has nothing to lose and everything to gain in this game tonight

final thought: the giants are averaging 4.6 rpg at home while batting .280 .....the rangers average 4.4 rpg on the road while hitting .249 ....with all the negative stats against texas, I think texas can win this game but I think that the best bet is the under as both pitchers have more to prove than the bats...texas backers have been waiting and losing on their offense to start hitting the “over games” and more than likely think yesterday was the beginning..... but this is 09 matt cain....and this is the 09 rangers..... accept both of them for what they are worth and take this under to the bank

10*** SUPERPLAY RANGERS/GIANTS UNDER 8.5 (-105)

2*** SMALL PLAY TEXAS +1.5 (-160)

my last big play will be on the ...let me take a breath..... the washington nationals .... this is pretty much a young pitcher fade as we are talking about brett cecil.....remember not too long ago he was 2-0 with a 0.64 era to start the season....this was a brief insert from an earlier writeup last month 5-15 .....

Quote:
TORONTO'S STARTING PITCHER BRETT CECIL HAS THROWN 2 GOOD GAMES, HE IS STILL JUST A ROOKIE...SHOULD HE BE FAVORED AS HIGH AS (-136).... MAYBE ...BUT I DONT THINK SO ACCORDING TO HIS MINOR LEAGUE STATS.... HE WAS KINDA DOMINATE IN AA BALL GOING 6-2 WITH A 2.55 ERA IN 18 GAMES SPORTING A 1.14 WHIP AND AVERAGING 10K'S A GAME ..... BUT WHEN HE WAS CALLED UP FOR AAA LAST YEAR AND EARLY THIS YEAR, THOSE NUMBERS BALLOONED AS HE WENT ONLY 2-6 WITH A 5.55 ERA IN 10 STARTS WHILE THE WHIP BLEW UP TO 1.55....
Well he got sent back down after getting pummelled by boston on 5/20 and in that time he has made 5 starts in the minors going 1-2 giving up 31 hits and 15 runs in 31 innings of work....this kid can be good as he has shown glimpses of that..... but the jays are really rushing this kid too fast instead of just taking strides.... its terrible imo seeing this...... even though he went 8 innings in his last aaa start , he still gave up 5 earned..... sure the jays have put him in a great spot to win, but i feel this is more of a confidence builder than anything else..... he is still green and will be trying to do to much on his second stint to the majors.....

the nationals beat the jays yesterday in extra innings and have a 3 game win streak after winning 2 of 3 from the yankees...this on the road I might add..... not to mention that this is only their second 3 game win streak of the season...... against this kid I think they can make their first 4 game win streak ....

sorry kid.... your organization is putting too much on your shoulders too soon

10*** SUPERPLAY IS ON WASHINGTON (+107)

Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?
