angels vs giants

both teams are coming into tonights game after sweeping their opponents in their last.... giants throw barry zito (3-6) 4.09 era while the angels throw jim lackey (1-2) 6.61 era

the angels hitters hit only .203 lifetime against barry zito....matthews (.152 10 ks in 33 abs), figgins (.190 10 k's in 42 abs), hunter (.208 5k's in 24 abs) rivera (.217) , abreu(.200) and vlady should get the short end of stick with no dh for this interleague game......the giants are on at tops of the league in home record with a 21-9 record and a recent 9-1 at home in their last 10 games... so its a big wonder why the line has swung to the angels ....

i will tell you why ...his opponent jim lackey and while his numbers havent been great since his stint on the disabled list he is still the far superior pitcher here today.... the giants have a stack loaded right hand lineup and lacky has a .224 average against this year....... the giants had tough earned wins against the a's young throwers in the first 2 games.... and i think they will have a tougher time tonight against lackey.....

now we talked about barry zito dominance over these angel hitters...well let me say that many of those strikeouts the angels had came during the 2005 season in which zito was a strikeout king with 171 that year.... in 2006 the angels were hitting him once again as chone figgins batted .357 and torri hunter batted .333 .... last nights lineup is batting 63 for 184 (.342) over the last 7 days so this lineup is clicking again....

final thought: imo i believe that the angels hot bats and the right hand advantage lackey will get to face tonight should be enough to beat these giants...

the giants are a hot team and sf is one of the toughest places to win on the road this season, but i just feel the dominance that zito had at one point in his career at one time in his career wont be enough tonight ....even if he did throw another gem i still think it would fall short......
