Shutouts MLB Sunday With Play Of The Month

Yesterday was ugly...I played way more games than I usually do and didnt gather stats for most of them...I will never do that again Good luck today everyone!

Cincinnati Reds vs Chicago Cubs

Cincinnati will start Johnny Cueto who will be making his first start of the season. Chicago will start Ryan Dempster who holds the leagues worst era going 1-3 with an 8.05 era. Dempster was 0-2 with a 4.73 ERA in his two starts against the Reds in 2010. Dempster looks go get his first win of the season at Wrigley Field where is posting a 7.91 era there. Not only has Ryan been struggling at home, he does not pitch well in day games going 0-2 with an 8.14 era this year and in 2010 going 4-7 with an era just over 4. Although Dempster is posting a 1.94 era this month, he has not pitched well in May with it being his worst month last year going 1-4 with a 4.54 era. Meanwhile Cueto has struggled in his rehab starts where he was 0-2 with a 6.28 ERA in four rehab starts. With Cueto struggling in those starts, he along with the Reds dominated the Cubs last year. Cueto was 1-0 with a 0.69 ERA in two starts versus the Cubs last season. The Cubs were able to sneak one out yesterday but I would take Cueto in this matchup any day. Cueto was 4-0 last year in the month of May and went 2-1 with an era just over 2 in day games. Cubs are 2-8 in Dempsters last 10 Sunday starts. Reds are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Chicago. The Reds have not lost a 3 game series to the Cubs since September of 2009.

Take:

Cincinnati Reds -110

$50/$45.45

Play Of The Month: 5-0 last 5 big plays

Colorado Rockies vs San Francisco Giants

San Francisco will start Ryan Vogelsong who is 1-0 with a 4.40 era. Colorado will start Jorge De La Rosa who is 4-0 with a 2.92 era. San Francisco won on a walk off last night, continuing their dominance against Colorado. The Giants have won their last 8 of 10 against Colorado including 4 out of 5 this year. Vogelsong is coming off of a rough outing giving up five runs in four innings against the Mets. Vogelsong was impressive in his first start allowing two runs and striking out 8 in 5 2/3 innings BUT it was against the struggling Pittsburgh Pirates. Meanwhile De La Rosa shut down the Giants bats earlier this year giving up two runs and four hits in seven innings. De La Rosa dominates against San Francisco going 7-1 with a 2.30 ERA in 10 career starts versus the Giants. De La Rosa has posted a 3-0 record with an amazing 0.64 era in San Francisco. The Rockies are struggling to finish games as they have lost three in a row, two coming from walkoffs. Colorado won the last meeting with De La Rosa on the hill 10-2 and I look for the Rockies to get ahead early and not look back. Rockies are 18-5 in De La Rosas last 23 starts with 4 days of rest. Giants are 2-5 in their last 7 games following a win. Giants are 1-5 in their last 6 during game 3 of a series. Jim Joyce will be behind the plate and the road team is 5-0 in Joyces last 5 games behind the plate. Rockies are 4-1 in their last 5 with him behind the plate. I just cant see the Giants sweeping the Rockies, especially after coming from behind late in both games of this series. Rockies roll today!

Take:

Colorado Rockies -125

$300/$240

Houston Astros +100

Going to continue to ride the Stros. Happ picthes very well against the Pirates but hasnt gotten much run support. He split last year with an era of 2.00 against them and a solid 1.93 era in Pittsburgh. The Pirates have been struggling at home. James McDonald allowed three runs in four innings against the Astros in his only start. Houston has dropped their last three of four but they have to win sometime....and Lee is back

$50/$50
