Smoltz designated for assignment.........

Is this the end? Boston also toying with bringing Paul Byrd to the show. Man I sure feel a lot better about my Rangers watching the Sox go through this stuff. Pitching that bad on the farm in Boston?

That is the difference between teams like Boston and low to midrange spenders. If you are the Sox and something doesn't work you have the money to overcome your mistakes while other teams don't.

if he doesn't accept assignemnt, yankees will pick him up off waivers and move him to hughes spot in bullpen and try hughes as starter again

I will still go with the Sox as the WC from the AL. Only team in my opinion that can knock them out of the WC is the Rays because it won't be anybody else in the Central or the West to do it.

Super post about Wakefield. He also chews up innings, rests the bullpen, and his velocity throws batters off. What exactly happened to hiim?

Boston may have the best bullpen in the AL......they don't need Smoltz in the BP....they need a STARTER
